    My fuel purchasing routine is,

Fuel at one of my carrier's terminals. They charge us at cost, so I don't have to pay for the Faux News political BS they've been doing to the country running up fuel prices and scaring the public over shortages that don't exist when the actual cost of the fuel hasn't risen much at all. Paid $2.56 a gallon this morning at a terminal that was $2.49 in January.

I'll use FuelBook to enter in my route and find the cheapest stops. They have an option to sort by pre-IFTA.

I'll then switch back to pump price and compare the prices of those stops to discounts I can get with Mudflap.

    It's not that complicated.

I look for the cheapest fuel, and that's it. IFTA is a wash. You either get taxed at the pump, or taxed at the end of the quarter. IFTA just zeros everything out.

That’s exactly what I’ve always done but if I am shown a better way then I will listen and look at it
But the other way needs to also be easier

The juice needs to always be worth the squeeze

If you run enough of those regions where fuel tax is higher and is the reason for the higher price, still yes. Not everyone can drive 1000 miles between fillups (500x2 for example).

What you are seeing there is a magnification of the problem because of fuel cost disparities AND ifta, AND regional variance in discounting. These are easier to see now, a year later with near 1.5x to 1.75x fuel cost over then

Gpd is still not wrong, UNLESS you have 600 gallon tanks

I can go 1600 between fuel ups but let your emotions rule your reality. Wish I could help you

Blah blah, blah, just joined and know everything. Prove it with ifta statements, gpd DID a year ago, wasnt this on this thread. even with much higher north east cost of fuel vs texas fueling as he went without regard for ifta, just buying the cheapest fuel, his ifta statement was under 10$.

If you cant be bothered to read and comprehend the words youve ingested ocullarly, take a long walk off a short pier

Final pump price is all I look at.
Even if a stop is discounted heavily that doesn't effect the tax.
4.999 retail 4.747 discount in new hampton.
discount price still includes the .2383 gallon state tax.
I'm a little more careful in higher tax states. Filled up in northern California once even though fuel was cheaper in Nevada. Was going to be running the entire length of California so it made sense to pay the taxes at the pump.

Fuel was like $2.50 per gallon when I made that post, and I paid I think $2.48 in IFTA. Last quarter I paid a dollar twenty. I still do the same thing - chase the cheapest fuel.

Now I suppose you could pay "more" for fuel pre-tax, and come out ahead on taxes, but I'm not willing to sit around wringing my hands on where to fill up.

Anyways, I hope the rest of your day is as pleasant as you are.
