I disagree on the APU usage... idling your engine will cost you around 1.5 gallons of fuel an hour. APU will cost you around 1.5 gallons of fuel all night. Way I see it... doesn't really hit the pocket.

Thanks IP & Dan and Chemsoldier! That is some of the details I was looking for as far as what you guys do on a constant basis to up your fuel economy. I figured that gaining some momentum as you hit that hill couldn't be a bad thing.
As far as the "Georgia Overdrive", I want to be clear that I wasn't referring to hitting a major hill in Neutral. I was referring to rolling hill areas. I know for example on the 101 coming out of LA into Ventura County, we have lots of spots where you have a small downgrade where if left in gear, it seems like the wheels would be fighting the friction of whatever gear you're in. But if I understand correctly, you "NEVER" coast in Neutral in a big rig, is that right? Just want to make sure I get clarification on that. Because if that is the case, then I'll simply NEVER do that... :)

Them there fighting words Sazook! LOL....

I've enjoyed it, it's a blast here with all of our mountains. I can't hardly wait for the 2015 Wranglers, they say they're FINALLY dropping Diesels in them! Duh! They should have done that years ago! The crazy thing is...if you go overseas to anywhere in the EU...you can get a Wrangler with a diesel in it! Go figure!

All this being said, I will put my 1988 Suzuki Samurai (aka the Sazook) up against your Jeep or my Jeep, and it will win every time.

There is something to be said about going smaller for greater agility. I've been out on off road events and saw full size H1 Hummer's get stuck where my Jeep just crawled over...lol. So, there's no doubt that size does matter! And in more than one way I hear...LOL...so I've been told...LOL :biggrin_2559:
