I don't even start the truck before the laptop. Would be stupid not to be legal coz I do have my GPS and my logbook installed on the laptop so it has to be open.
The best would be a tablet indeed but Volvo dash is shaking like hell. I bet in a matter of months the problems would start on the tablet. But a tablet would be neat....

    Why do you say that?

Isn't a tablet a solid state hard drive? (just a memory chip like a memory card in a camera) Whereas a laptop spins a physical hard drive disc, vibrations and shock are strongly cautioned against.

Unless you have a very expensive SSD laptop or one of those laptops designed for army specs.

What truck do u have ? Volvo's dash shake like hell.
And yes is true: the tablets have no hd like computers and this may be an advantage on using them in a truck.
Anyway this is my third laptop in 6 years. First got the screen broken from the hinges (vibrations). Second the hd died one day (I also suspect vibrations). I will see this one how long will last.

OK After reading all these helpful post, guess I will have to do some research on whuch one or method would be best for me and ask more questions. I know I would be wanting something that is big enough for me to see at the same time be able to see it without a glare. Also something that will give me places in surrounding areas. Also clear enough direction that are ahead of time.

I am new to this industry and wonder how one get internet on the road?

If you think you got confusing and contradicting replies for a GPS question.... I don't recommend asking for advice on the CB forum!

For every answer there is an equal and opposite re-answer! Hahahahaa

(Just teasing CB guys and gals. You've been more than helpful with my quest for more range.)

Thanks Mikeeee. I know everyone is very serious on why they like one brand from another. Just looking what would be best for me. And it just adds all that I must learn on this style of living. Going to school in the next couple months. So trying to research things so I don't get "what a stupid broad, why are you here learning to drive." Have to have some knowledge to contrubute to the pack. Lol
