the atlas is only good for the long haul journey, it has no clue once you get to town. and don't say phone call either. cuz half the towns in this country has no service. which takes us back to gps.
everybody has their own brand they like. some won't even touch some brands. the op will have to figure out his own liking.
and make sure he uses his brain and eyes. -
Any issues with the RM brand you can post here for answers. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...5563-support-thread-tnd-500-tnd-700-a-40.html
In looking at Google Maps and HERE (Navteq) they both show a two lane road. HERE is the base core map. If it is not correct there then any company that uses HERE as the base core map will be wrong. It is not RM only.
If you give me or PM me from what points to what points it has been changed into a 4 lane road I can input that into HERE to have them look into it and correct the segments that need correcting. I did find this. http://www.semissourian.com/story/1757353.html
You are correct it has been done for about 3 years. But, when the state signs off the construction does it become a road and not construction to a map company.
I will forward the link up to HERE for correction in the main map core, this should be reflected in the 2015 maps from HERE.
I will verify the WI one also. - update - http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/projects/swregion/26/ I submitted to HERE for correction(s)
Thanks,

i bought the 720 cause it was 250 bucks vs 400.

I've used the PC Miler 750, Rand Mcnally, and Garmin in that order. The Rand Mcnally was the best tool overall imo. No GPS is 100% so we always compare any routing with the Atlas and google maps and qualcomm. A Truckers Friend national truck stop directory is a good tool to keep around too.

After being with the same company for a little while it doesn't take long to have MOST of their loads memorized. For an average load we use maybe 3-4 interstates, 2-3 highways, exit for ship/rec and truck specific routes around town. The loads I get are never too far from the main interstate.
My first trucker GPS (world Nav $100) broke over a year ago. I almost went and bought the pricey GPS units ya see in the tuck stop, until I started do previous loads, consistently. Now I'll use a combination of the road atlas, google maps and people net (e log) for time/dist.
..BUT, if I just started driving I'd get the Rand McNally 720, easily.
