It's a Verizon promotion through Dell, Lil may. I'll have to check on the expiration, hopefully it's extended and I'll have more time to make a decision.
Ahhh.. all this techno talk is frying my brain. Goodnight! -

You really want the service with the unlimited plan! You can burn through that 5 or 10 gig limited plan in a day! Sign on to any provider and look up the broadband usage chart and freak when you see what you DON'T get with that pathetic limited plan!
yeah it's good for email but do NOT think you'll be watching too many videos or streaming movies! I got rid of my TV when I got my service as the streaming was way better than the iffy signals you got off the air!
WIFI is as slow as AOL Dial up not to mention not very safe security wise which we've beaten to death in several internet threads then someone keeps making a new one like this one! Here is one of those threads!

Before deciding on a broadband service to get look at the coverage maps and ZOOM in on them! They show a lot of whats NOT out there! Every provider out there has all these areas that "show" coverage but when you zoom in those areas kinda shrink!
Once you've researched the provider that gives you the best service and a better deal than that 10 gig limit I'd go with them! You'll find that the unlimited will outweigh the coverage areas when you start to rent movies to watch and downloading pictures from home or all the other stuff you're used to doing with the internet at home!
On a side note pay for the PCMI card not the USB card! the PCMI card slides INTO the computer and is nice and secure.
The stupid USB card you need to get an extension cord maybe a 2" or 3" one as that darn heavy USB card will wear out the plug on the laptop. It'll make it loosen up to where you'll need to take it in so they can replace it! Use the cord so it doesn't "vibrate" or get hit or if you use the laptop on your lap use extreme caution you don't hit that stupid USB card! IDK what college educated moron thought that up but I bet he's on the financial staff of a motherboard company and came up with the idea hoping a lot of users didn't get the insurance coverage so they can make more money off of just this problem...repairing the plug or selling you a new computer!
Yes the PCMI costs more BUT it'll cost less later! You can also leave it in the computer when you put it in the computer case as it's not hanging out the side like that stupid USB card! Your choice! Go cheap or pay a little more for a better card. Just be sure you have a PCMI slot or the PCMI Express slot! Your laptop documentation or users guide will tell you or take it in with you when you decide on the card you want!
Trust me I've been there it wasn't pretty! That's why I now buy insurance for a laptop!
While I'm on that subject of insurance, GET IT!
Trucks are hard on a computer both a tower and a laptop!
The insurance is well worth the cost if the laptop is on the passenger seat not secured and you hit your brakes and it flies into the dash and to the floor! Or it's in your lap and you open the door and it takes a dive to the ground OR you have it on the bunk and you roll over on it cracking the screen or knocking it to the floor OR it's already on the floor and you step on it! If you can think it, it WILL happen! Murphy's Law says so! GET THE INSURANCE!
Be sure to read the notes and posts about WIFI!
OH, the MIFI on those phones! Heres the latest on that nice idea!
It'll burn through batteries like crazy! That's the dope on some of the sites and forums about them! The phones also heat up with longer use.
Then there is now a new cancer warning about them! Yes, testicular cancer (cancer of the boys or as I call them the danglies!) from keeping the cell in a pocket and a laptop on your lap!
But the main complaint was the batteries of cells not lasting long due to having to keep the cell on charge so you could get more than an hour or two of internet off the cell! Cell batteries, if not covered due to over usage like prolonged MIFI use are freaking expensive! Price yours and then decide if the "up to 5 connections" is worth the cost! You'd be surprised what they don't tell you in the commercials or at the counter or on the website as you're putting your money down!
It's getting to the point that jumping on the newest toys when they hit the shelf just to be the kewl kid on the block isn't worth it in the tech trade!Think Apple! I'll wait for a month or two for all the problems to get outed! -
One option for getting a Mi-Fi is to buy it outright for about $150 and use it on virgin mobile prepaid...it will run at the sprint network, but some say at only 50% speed, but at about 50% the cost and no contract, some folks may like it. They also sell a USB plug for a laptop too...virgin mobile is truely unlimited, but throttled down to a slower down load speed....so like anything there is a negative!!

If you use a phone while it's plugged in, you'll burn the battery out fairly fast. When I had a phone that I kept plugged in all the time I had a truck battery and a home battery for it. -
Verizon has a new 4G-LTE laptop connect card that is $149.99 with a $50 instant rebate. The service is 10Gb a month for $50, or 5Gb a month for $35.
Verizon has REAL 4G unlike T-Mobile. Sprint's 4G is only serving 800,000 people as of now (NYC and LA) and Verizon already has 4G being installed in Toledo.
I would recommend Verizon for any voice/data service...I have had them for 11 years and won't go anywhere else.
P.S.-iPad is coming to Verizon.
