I bought a pillow top mattress (with pillow top on both sides do you can flip). I paid approx $350 for it. Money well spent IMO.
As far as getting a mattress in the truck, you need to go in the passenger side, with seat lowered all the way and pushed back all the way. It'll fit thru the door that way. It definitely is a pain in the butt, but hopefully you only do it once and then it's done.

I like a rock hard mattress, and our home mattress a Sterns and Foster are Extremely comfortable. Like the one said, its like a cloud. Ours at home is a queen mattress and one heavy mattress to flip, the other room is also a sterns and foster, where you don't have to flip it.

I needed a new one, and my boss said find a good one....I went to North America Mattress Company and ordered their best one. This thing is great and I sleep like a baby. They all ship rolled up and vacuum packed- just cut it open in the bunk and give it a while to expand.
It's memory foam top with under layers of denser foam, so no springs and such. They have different lines all with varying prices, so finding one to fit your budget is easy.

I bought a twin Casper mattress. They shipped it rolled like a truck mattress (it's a foam mattress). And holy crap, it's nice. One of the comfiest mattresses I've slept on (and I had a REALLY nice serta in the truck before I got the casper). I threw my nice sheets on top of it, and slept like a fat baby. I can't recommend it enough. I don't even feel the truck vibrating during a regen/high idle.

$8.00 air mattress from Walmart, you can adjust the firmness, works good for me. Also, every once in a while, advil pm, helps to get to sleep and stay asleep.

I got a twin at Sam's club for something like $110. Then added a 2" memory foam topper to it. Works great. No ploblem getting it in thru the passenger door....this is in an 03 FLD.
Am in the process of turning the bed into a table/bench setup, and adding a 48" foldup against the back wall so that my wife and me can sleep with enough room. They dont make a 48", so we ordered the full (58" wide) and cut it down to size with a bread knike and a razor knife. 12" thick memory foam from Amazon, $300, and worth EVERY pennyCoveringBases, Jazz1 and Lepton1 Thank this.
