If your young enough to work your way up the ranks, ups has long been considered one of the top fleets to run for.

 

Go to a right to work state for ups.

Avoid the union dues but get the union pay

We did just have our 100th "official" murder. But its actually way more than that.

They'll hire you. In need wicked bad.
I do seasonal for em $32/hr and umpire baseball the rest of the year xD.

They'll pau for your school 25000 if you wanna go get an Associates at Ivy tech ATA or somin. That's even part time for the package handlers. If you wanna do ups I'd highly recommend moving here its a good career.

Our governors freaking awesome to. He's like trump. He doesnt give a #### what anyone thinks lol. A leader man.

 

I was in the OPs situation. What I did was start regional. Then found a mom and pop company that expedited equipment rental to construction sites, went back regional and now P&D local.

1) first regional job had no miles
2) first local job didn't pay more than $500 for a 12 hour work day
3) second regional was awesome but wanted to be home daily
4) local pays decent but it's pretty much a ten hour reset and back out @55-60 hours/ week

Finding something that pays enough for you to live well and gives you enough time to see your family is hard.

Oh and going local means working your back. At least in my case, local= mobile dock worker with a CDL.

Regional dry van was downright cushy compared to my job now.

Where do you live?

 

$500.00 for a 12 hour day sounds like an oilfield job. Not bad wages compared to hauling cheap freight.

 

The guy I talked to all morning while we waited at Budweiser is an O/O making some good gravy just going back and forth doing Bud. He takes any load for a back haul, just so he can get back to the gravy.
Three trips a week for the last 3 years. But he also said he has no clue how he's gonna work it on e logs.


Might go to 2 trips a week.

 

I thought the same thing at first, but since it sounded like he was complaining about it, I'm guessing he meant $500/week for his first local job. I don't know any drivers who would leave a $500/day local job. If so, it must not have been steady work.

Concerning oilfield work: I certainly wish I could make $500 in a day, but I could never relocate to a trashy town in the middle of nowhere to do it. God bless those who will.
