Best OTR Cell Phone Service?

No problemo! I got done with that post last night and thought to myself, "wow, Self, Sprint really blows!" haha.

My ex-girlfriend lives in California so we did alot of talking on the phone, you don't know how many times I was like "Hey babe, gotta call ya back in about 8 hours, I am coming up to Kearney Nebraska" ....LOL

It's like that old Sci-fi movie I saw once, where there is some type of weird zone that if you cross the line, you drop dead........it's like you cross the Archway, your Sprint phone is dead....hahah.

 

My husband and I have sprint. It has never let us down yet. We always have very good reception. I know that some people have not been as fortunate. It works great for us.

 

Cat, you must not hit I-80 much between Kearney Neb. and SLC much then....

Bullhauler, there were some spots out there where I would have Walkie Talkie but no phone....I think my choice to switch came when we stopped at an Accident EB I-80 near Laramie and a young lady was injured and pinned in her car and I couldn't get out on my phone to call 911. She got plowed by a JB Hunt truck, go fig.....haha. I normally wouldn't have stopped, but I am an EMT/Firefighter and I felt obligated....it just ticked me off that we had to flag down a WHP officer who was going to another accident to have him call it in......yeah, another wonderful I80 snowstorm....

 

I had Sprint once...They Blow. AT&T is good. I use T Mobile and I have been real happy with them.

 

when i ran otr, had sprint for a while, then i switched to verizon and was much happier with the coverage. i rarely went east of denver though.

 

I have a related question.........

I haven't done any traveling with my laptop yet and I was wondering if I can expect to have the same reception with my card as I have with my phone? (same carrier.... ATT)

As for the services, I do want to say I had a really difficult time years ago with Verizons billing department.....
..... switched to ATT and I have been happy with their service/reception.......

The only issue I have had with ATT is their constant switching of companies......... I joined when they were ATT, then they went to Cingular, now they are back to ATT. Each time they switched I ended up having to get a new phone. Annoying. This last time I asked the guy if now that they were ATT again if I could use my old ATT phone from years ago and he just looked at me like I was asking a silly question and said "No, of course not."........... apparently the "New ATT" is not even related to the "old" ATT............ again....... annoying.
But the reception is great!

 

I have run through most of the north west with wide loads..one thing we don't do is stay on the interstates. One time we had to overnight in Grassrange, MT I had signal the other two guys had nothing. That is almost in the middle of no where. I use Verizon and have had signals almost everywhere I have gone. I found out that a outside antenna helps a lot. something to boost the signal helps.

 

I believe the reason for the new phones has to do with newer technology. I too have been through the various incarnations of ATT from the start. Staring with the analog phones. Now they are digital with gps capabilities and 911 triangulation to find you in the event of an emergency,

As for the laptop and aircard issue be aware the cell towers on the ATT network and their partnership arrangements do NOT always have the ability to handle the data stream from an air card but do have the ability to handle voice traffic.

I had this explained to me by an ATT rep after I had my integrated ATT aircard drop out yet I was able to make a phone call on my ATT cell phone.

I actually switched to a Verizon air card that plugs into the usb port of my laptop and get better overall coverage than I got from ATT for the same 60.00 monthly fee.
