Besl is a very good company. They are one of the oldest flat bed carriers in the nation. I believe they are based out of Cincinnati. They are not as large as some of the others, but I have a friend who has been with them for over 20 years. He ran his own authority before leasing to them. He really likes them. Funny, you rarely hear about Besl. You could go with most any of the major flat bed carriers and do well where you live and probably be home every week.

There is a reason you rarely hear about them......its cause those who are leased to them keep their mouths shut. I was there for over 2 years. There are a cpl reasons I left and nothing really had anything to do with Besl.

I now have a deal like 07-379pete and if it ever fell threw I'd either get my own authority or go back to Besl.

Start out in Dayton Ohio to Coshocton Ohio, unload reload, drive 36 miles to Zanesville ohio, off load reload, back to Dayton Ohio to unload reload the next morning, do all over again, $1,200 a turn 4x"s a week. Trl rental fee $160 a week & $39.00 a week for workerscomp. Who knows?(LOL) One will never know until he trys it. By the way hauled mostly flat steel and everything in- between, hauled one single 20,000 coil in my life.

If you would have asked about doing this a few months ago he would have been correct, there were as many loads as anyone could handle. But the loads he's talking about to coshocton are sporadic. They're usually once a month 300-500 tons and only last 2-3 days. Zanesville has been shut down for months. Also with coil loads they pay by the weight, so if you only haul 40k you won't make crap. If the company you talked to is either of the two I mentioned RUN. Whenever Les2 gets back from vacation and gets back on here he'll tell you the same thing. If your going to haul heavy coil loads daily you need an 80k MAC flat.

Hood isn't fiberglass like the older ones. The newer lightweight hoods are some weird plastic which is good because everyone said that had it been fiberglass it would have taken the whole fender off . The local body shop (right next door to our shop conveniently) had the 3M rep come look at it. I forget what the material is called but he had what it takes to fix it. Everyone is worried about rocks from the tire, ice hanging from it and all the abuse it will take being behind the wheel.

BESL agent around here got taken over by Precision Strip Transport. Haven't heard from anyone if that was a good thing.
