94 to 90 to whatever way around Chicago, depending on time of day......to 80, to 65 to 70 across to 76 to 84

you run 90 from Beloit to Chicago area, thats one toll road

    And the PA turnpike another...

that sounds good but i was thinking 35s out of Minneapolis to 80-74-pick up the 70e on the other side of indy then-79s-68e-70e-81n-to the 83 or something like that.

Run to Milwaukee, then 41 into downtown Windy, take 94 to US20, on the east side of South Bend jump up to IN120, and run that until OH49. US20 is just south of there, and you run that to Toledo where you run 475N-75N-280S-OH2. At Cleveland, 2 joins I-90, then take OH 176 south to 480E to 422-5-11-80. Run over to State College and over the hill on 322 to Harrisburg, and 83 south to York.

    Tolls paid: $0

It was worth doing in the days of 55 in the Buckeye, now that they bumped the limits, I'd have to stop and think for a bit before I'd go that way. Let's see, fat and slightly tall load... yep, still going that way!:biggrin_2559:

That's too far that way, almost 200 miles further. Even going to Rockford and 39-74-70... is over a 100 miles further.

Hammer pretty well has it---a lil easier to run I94 in Indiana to IN 49 south to US30--then 30 over to I71 in Ohio then 71n--to 76e--to 80e--to 220s-to 322e--which will merge w/83at harrisburg and then into York......
But if your intent is to avoid Chicago--and all tolls--the out of route you will have to do--really isnt worth the time and your costs....

    25(2)+2 and Hammer166 Thank this.

You Won't spend a ton of money in Illinois on tolls... I would run 90 to 290 then catch 294 in illinois just to avoid the Chicago area traffic as much as possible

Hammer just doesn't like the traffic circle on 20 in Angola, IN.:biggrin_25513: I run 20 across IN from 94, except for the truck route of IN 2 to the South Bend 20 bypass. There is construction all over, and since I quit running the toll roads, not much that really bothers me.

Speed limits on 30 and the rural Interstates are no longer split in OH, and can be up to the same 70 mph you can run on the pike.

You can run I-80 across PA to exit 123 and run a short distance south to US 322 and run that to Harrisburg, or take 80 to exit 161 and run I-99 back down to 322, will take about the same time to do another 30 miles or so. It would be no worse, and probably better than running 68 in MD.

Timing is almost everything in Chicagoland, I regularly run 94 in WI to US41 at the border and run the 13 lights in 22 miles and saving 2 miles and having to pay 2 tolls. I use cash at the insistence of the company and it is more paperwork and chance for error.

Running 68 in MD used to be tough when loaded, the WV portion was easier. That may have changed, it's been going on 3 years since I took it empty going the other way.

Yeah, I always forget that's IN 2 and not 20 for that short stretch, but that's what I meant. And it wasn't the traffic circle as much as traffic in general that got me to start using 120 instead of 20. And if 30 has the higher speed limits, I think olhand has the best way, 49-30....

Unless your outlaw tendencies are evident in your load configuration. :biggrin_2559:

Not that I ran like that or anything...:biggrin_25524:
