I went there it was pretty good. The instructors were cool and I learned a lot. Take the recruiters with a grain of salt and do your research on here to where you want to go and what applies to you. They'll give you a packet of apps for trucking companies and say fill them out to push you to hire with one of them. I disregarded it and wen with Roehl. Everything else is pretty good. Everything you'll need to get the ball rolling.
The op I'd say its a good school but its far from Bradenton and your wife would have to be in hotel for the 3 week course. I'm going to assume that would be a no go and look for somewhere in your area. Good luck I'm sure there's a good school for her to attend. -
Thanks for the info, I joined here for that reason, to get the scoop from real working drivers.

Well, PTEC sounded good until my company said they dont have it as an approved school so scratch that plan.

National truck driving school in green cove springs isn't to bad and far as I remember they are quiet abut cheaper than roadmaster
-
That's strange. PTEC is an accredited college by one of the college accreditation organizations AND the
Commission of the Council on Occupational Education (COE). Something doesn't sound right at all seeing how the class is 320 hours with 1000 actual road miles. I'm interested to know what type schools your company wants. Maybe they're like a handful of other companies wanting only PTDI-accreditation.
I was prepared to go this route when I went back to school but after doing some research learned this organization (PTDI ... which at one time really did mean something special) is now a money-grab scheme.
Here's how it works .. a college/school has to apply for accreditation to this self-dubbed and self-coronated organization (PTDI). The organization then checks out the program/school and must pay upfront fees and yearly fees
(http://www.ptdi.org/course/membership.aspx#fee) to remain a member and obtain this organization's recommendation even if a program/course EXCEEDS PTDI's requirements (like PTEC and several OTHER colleges in Florida).
Note that NO college/program in Florida is listed by PTDI). Lastly, I am under the impression that although it claims non-profit status, PTDI's yearly report, not unlike that of some other questionable non-profits and charities, indicates the bulk of monies received (more than half) is earmarked for employee salaries and wages:

In any event, good luck with your wife, man. Hope she finds a good school and gets on the road with you soon. -
Don't be shocked, but they recommended roadmaster instead.
-
Hey Anj,
Can we get an update???
KH -
Unfortunately given our situation, it's going to have to be roadmaster. Were just waiting for the paperwork to flow thru the finance department
The Challenger Thanks this. -
The best school is Bradford Union Tech in Starke.
