which is the best state to get an ez pass transponder for discounts? Or are they all the same in any state. Easiest site for info I have found is the Ohio ez pass site pretty much gives most of the info every other site is worthless.

I'm beginning to wonder if EZ Pass is even still going to be worth it a few years from now. In the past few years I've been seeing states turning off the transmitters at the scales and replacing them with their on "Weigh-In-Motion" systems. LA, GA, NC are at least 3 examples I can think of at the moment. As far as why those states are opting out of the EZ-Pass system, I am not an expert so I have no idea.
Just wondering if there are any more states planning to get away from EZ Pass in the future. -
Ez pass is for the turnpike tolls, you may be thinking of pre pass for weigh stations

If i.understajd it right, if you're going to NYC, you have to have their EZPASS to get the discounted rates, I never go there anymore, so I'm relying on 2nd hand information, 2 of our trucks have ny devices, because of cash lanes being phased out there.
Bean Jr. and JimmyWells Thank this. -
New York still has cash tolls. I think ez pass works the same for any state that uses it but they each have different discounts so it it may not matter what state you buy it in

The E Z Pass discount I believe is only in the state that it is issue in, hence I don't get PA discounts with my NY E Z Pass. Mass has done away with cash tolls and uses ez pass or toll by mail using your license plate. NY is following suit and has taken out some of the cash booths and plans to remove them all. BTW Mass has three toll rates, Mass ez pass, other states ezpass and toll by mail.

I believe I seen NY discount is 5% just got a toll $79.80 i also had another NY toll $17.90 I seen OH is 33% discount with ez pass and I paid $29 recently.
