thank you loaderlou, id love to pull a short tandem axle aluminum box, but i need to be in the 30-34 ton range to make it worth whileand although i havnt ran the numbers hard i dont think i can get that without a triaxle traile. i totally hear what your saying on tire dsmage just sucks NY tends to think backwards on occasion, even this set would be a very little big rig, lol.....theres a company about an hour north of me running 550-700 horse Petes pullin shiny smooth side Mac trailers with 40 ton in the wagon....way out of my league but theres a market for short wagons too
    stay safe my friend, Al

A steerable lift axle on the front of the three will help the tractor tires and your wallet on tolls. Also an all aluminum trailer if your only doing aggregates or clean material. You should be in the 35000# range empty. If you get a 107000# permit! that will give you +or - 36 ton payload. Plenty of room for comfort

poppa, im thinking of converting mytriaxle into a tractor so im set with an 8LL and a 3176 CAT for power, just trying figure out if its more cost effective to upgrade the lift axle to steerable and repair/replace the bed or knock it all off and buy a used small end dump - you know.....the same numbers game we play everyday lol

What county are you in ? Lower 7 not including the five boroughs ( someone said they're not part of NY ) allow 6 axles @ 107000#. Unless you get a trooper or a motor carrier who's Wheaties were peed in that morning, they usually don't go after bridge law unless your a total jerk.

Rarely up in that area, seems like they're all getting in the act. Down here on long Island many of the towns and villages have or are getting their own scale wagons. You can imagine with our population and the amount of heavy haulers we have, it's a money maker and a chain jerker.
