Best vhf/uhf radio for a truck

    Not a problem here my wife has her general class ticket ...

    BTW I have a brother in TOOLE UTAH ( Near Salt Lake ) ...extra class ticket too ...

    My cities' Drug Task Force uses nextel for undercover/stakeout jobs.It seems ideal for this as long as there is good coverage as it is secure and con not be monitored.I agree with you, it would not be good for day to day communications.

    We have 4,000 inmates here and 6 repeaters and 9 voting receivers for our ICOM radios. At 460 Mhz you cant go through the buildings and 800 mhz goes DEAD the trunking radios are useless as are c-phones. ALL 1500 radios can talk to each other and hear each other100% of the time ... Right now we use F43 radios and are going narrowband using f4011's as we replace the 43's....

    Well, that's all impressive stuff, but all I want to know is, assuming a 2 meter rig, what freq is the "standard" on the road? Do you guys monitor 6.520 simplex? With so many variables involved with repeater access I don't imagine you would often use repeaters for truck to truck comm.

    146.52 is monitored in tampa so is 147,550
