And if nobody lets you over, just force your way over or to wherever you want to be.

You definitely need to drive that area with 'controlled aggression'. Ain't nobody gonna move unless you make them move.

Speaking of lane choice; lane 2 is your friend. I watched a Prime flat jump into lane 3 right after the cash box, and I'm thinking, 'dude, you don't want to do that.' Then he jumped into lane 4 and I'm going, 'dude, you really don't want to do that'. I held a spot open for him to come back over. Gotta pop that NYC cherry at some point, even if it's just a blow through on the Cross Bronx.

Went across the GW because I wanted to actually go through NYC because I've never been there, even if it was only a few miles. The closest I've been previously was Ridgefield, NJ.

The traffic was bumper-to-bumper going across. I heard on the CB there was a minor fender bender in the center lane on the bridge that was gone by the time I got there. I was stuck in the EZ Pass/Cash lane, so that took longer. As someone said, be in the far left lane before you get to the bridge.

Having to get over to the right at the end of the bridge to get on NB 87 is a PITA because of the A-hole New York drivers, but I already knew how they drove because I've been on 287 a few times. You just have to see if someone is willing to play chicken with a big rig.

I'm just glad I didn't actually have to go into the city. I don't even want to know what that's like. All in all, an interesting experience. Thanks for all the responses.

Yes, it's a Kimberly Clark load out of the New Milford facility.

the city itself isn't too bad if its all your used to. I cut my teeth in the city doing food service with a 48 and condo cascadia. I'm actually glad I learned to drive there. the experience cannot be beat as far as training goes

Wait until night fall. Then zip across the GW with 3000 other truckers delivering into Hunts Point in a organized invasion.

Just don't get caught in Connecticut Q Bridge at sunrise fighting off the rush hour barbarians.

You can do the 287, but there is no point now that they are replacing the Tappan Zee.

I crossed the Tappen Zee twice last week, in and out of New England. I didn't have any problems.
