The cameras don't send the footage over the internet in real time. They store it internally until something triggers an event, and then it sends the footage of around 10 seconds before to 10 seconds after the event to be reviewed, and only to one place - the company providing the service. If they deem it serious enough it is then sent to the drivers company for further review.

If the camera sends footage of something that just happened without my actually manually sending it, or authorizing it to be sent, then yes that is sending it in real time. What you mean to nitpick my words as to saying is that they don't constantly or continually send information in real time. Obviously, the system does not wait to send anything it considers an event. But a car system does not send anything to anyone. If I don't freeze the footage, it will simply write over it. That's what I want. In this manner, the information cannot be used against me (5th Amendment) and I cannot be accused of destroying exculpatory evidence by not stopping the camera from overwriting footage which I think will not show the whole picture or will be misleading.

the computer may partly analyze the data in real time (as it comes in) Definition of REAL time

Edit: I think what you mean when you say it doesn't go over the internet is that you don't know the difference between the internet and the World Wide Web.

I saw a movie on Lifetime Network. I know there are online hubs where people trade nude picks of 63 year old truck drivers with each other. My CDL prohibits me from telling lies about any of this. For all I know this is what the annual WEF meeting in Davos Switzerland is really all about. Perverts, all of them.
