    I wish placards didn't have that backing then drivers would have to use duct tape.

    spearmint gum works well too....

    i usually have spare sets of placards, which when i take off the ones that are in the holders, are many times durable enough for duct taping. but i have had problems with the thinly made type, and if it rains, they still fall off.
