And this is why we need proper training... Been out here 2 years almost and STILL learn thing's I feel I should of been taught in school or in training
... But what are us rookies to do...And yes the driver should of known what 6 tons is from common sense but I think people get my point?jethro712 and SingingWolf Thank this. -
The e-ton will be out soon for those that stopped sniffing turpentine, got out of the shelter, and on with a government subsidized mega
Snailexpress and chalupa Thank this. -
Oh no!!! On Xmas day??? Total collapse? $750K???
I didn't see that one in the news.......but wait...couldn't convert tons to lbs? Her empty tractor weighs more than the bridge limit.
Geeze....TequilaSunrise Thanks this. -

Her insurance is paying for the bridge...
I don't think she should go to jail, it's not free. That's 180 days the city will payout to house and feed her.
She lost her license and cannot drive. It seems like the problem is resolved already. Let her go back to her barely livable wage. What good does jail do for this situation??
She's not smart. Being dumb isn't a crime. She didn't run off and leave the bridge to be someone else's problem. She gave countless people in the town employment... etc. $750k... wow. Sounds like that's padded somewhere.Midnightrider909 and Snailexpress Thank this. -
Interesting read, I almost feel bad for the young couple.

'Life as you know it will be drastically changed forever.'
I had a classroom instructor in CDL school who tried to impress upon us the seriousness of operating a big truck. He would give scenarios that always ended with the above statement.
Run a red light, hit a minivan and life as you know it will be drastically changed forever.
Don't secure your load properly and kill someone when it comes off and life as you know it will be drastically changed forever.
Collapse a bridge by exceeding it's weight limit 6 times over and life as you know it will be drastically changed forever.
All new drivers should look at this story as a good example of why you need to take the responsibility seriously. Unfortunately this driver didn't, fortunately nobody got hurt.Bean Jr., sevenmph and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
(This post was made in jest. No frogs were harmed in the total and complete destruction of this bridge.)Broke Down 69, Pumpkin Oval Head and tinytim Thank this. -
Another question to put on a real CDL exam, what is a ton?
