They tarp better when hauled suicide, but whatever the customer wants they get. I just hauled one shot gun that was 45,000, four chains, two horse shoed, two x'd and four straps over the top, it didn't fall off.

If you roll your trailer over ... Shotgun or suicide its gonna roll off the side.... Thats number 1 ... Number 2 if a customer request from the mill that its loaded shotgun...and you roll up in there and tell them what you are gonna do count the seconds before they ask you to leave...smh...secure it properly and you dont have to worry ... And before you go all blah blah blah I don't know this that and the other I haul coils 5 days a week 2-5 loads per day 1-5 coils per load ... So I think I know what im talking about
Over securement is fine on a 45,00 coil lowest securement point being 6,600 you are only required 4 chains...the horseshoe and x if its shotgon is enough...the straps are a little much but however you feel safe I wouldn't disagree -
Ditto.......

I know this is a dead thread but let's revive, shall we....
Are the beveled 4x4's from TarpStop good for coils and dunnage? I tried to tell from looking at the picture but, it won't blow up big enough for my eyes so, experience wins it. -
Good for coils, they are oak. I wouldn't use them for regular dunnage, not much surface area for something other than a coil to sit on.
SheepDog Thanks this. -
The truth is, I will only need about 4 anyway... After thinking about it for just a second, I can only haul no more then 48,000 lbs anyway... so, I don't see me hauling that kind of weight in 3 or more coils that would need racks. So, if I just buy 4 beveled 4x4's and the rest straight 4x4's, I should be ok. Than I can get rid of all this crap wood I have now.

The ones from tarp stop are the ones I use, the heaviest coil I've laid in there is 55,700#. I average 47K.

Straps over the top of a shotgun coil are required by DOT regs. -
A member asked about dunnage. No need to start the same old coil securement argument that happens over and over.
And just in case you didn't notice the post you're attempting to argue with is over two years old.......Cetane+, Clasix1055 and peterbilt_2005 Thank this.
