    New chain laws.

Be aware that the socialist government of BC has upped the fine amounts. Given that most drivers now have never seen snow, and the government thinks the way the routes in BC, especially the Coq, have been maintained perfectly. Presto whammo. New draconian ways to pick our pockets, while also making us make up for the lack of plowing.

What used to be a $121 dollar fine for not carrying chains when required is now $196. Yes that means all of you east of the rockies where chains are not needed at all. Enter BC without them, and wham, BC again means bring cash.

But, the best part of the new money grab is $598 (obviously before tax and other levees) for not chaining when it's mandatory as per signs or DOT instructions.

Doesn't matter if they've left the chain lights on long after they're needed. Slap them on. Many times the chain lights will come on when there's not enough snow to dig into. $400 triples get trashed. And those with years of experience know that most times, unless you're pulling a train, a set of singles will do, if you have to chain at all. But, you better follow the instructions below, and carry that amount of chains with you. Yes, a 22k tandem load now requires triples. Or singles on every outer drive.

    Insane.

And, you can bet that the plow companies will do even less this year.

Bottom line, If you don't have to run out here, don't bother.

Well BC needs some way to generate income. You know since everybody's leaving. Thank the NDP for that.

Actually, more people are arriving than leaving, our economy is doing better than the other provinces. Except for the forestry industry, it is quite robust.
As for the increased fines for not carrying and using chains when required, who could argue with that? Maybe super truckers who think they can make it, and then can't, ruining the trip for the rest of us...

I'd love to move back to the BC and would do so in a heartbeat but the wages suck, ICBC is more crooked than a dog's hind leg and doesn't BC still charge $1000/year for healthcare? I ran the numbers and I'm better off in Alberta. For now anyways.

The MSP fees were cut by %50 last year in Jan. (2019) and will be eliminated completely this coming Jan (2020). No more healthcare fee starting then...
