Worked as a driver for Cady Lines Inc. Out of Joliet IL for 6 months. When truck was leased on with a company everything was ok. As soon as he got his own DOT number. He wanted to force me to cheat on logs. I wouldn’t and I quit. Now he doesn’t want to pay me. Owes about $3.000. This includes escrow money from another company. Also he now has the nerve to try to say I owe him rent for living out of the truck for the 6 months. Needless to say I was a road warrior. Stayed in the truck to make the most. Guy is insane. His name Horacio Rodriguez. Don’t trust this new company!!! I have all text messages as well. Brokers beware! He’s known for lying and has been dropped by at least one broker already!!

The rental industry is pretty much predatory in nature: Takes advantage of people who have crappy parents/broken homes who can't afford to buy a house. Only way it's justified is if the prices are low so it helps people.

The rental industry is just that...an industry. It has to show a profit to continue to do business.
Landlords or property owners aren't social welfare agencies. It's an investment, nothing more and nothing less.
They shouldn't be required to subsidize their tenants because the tenant has an unfortunate background.

Yeah, but how much profit are we talking here... $650.00 to $1200 a month to live in an apartment is a little much for today's economy. And what you said makes sense if you just throw ethics out the window. It's the same mindset that is perfectly fine labeling you as a "human resource" instead of a human being. I mean if you want to dig deeper it goes down to the federal reserve(a private bank) and the pattern of raising minimum wage/businesses raising prices so it doesn't cut into profit, and the resulting inflation rising every year.

What's wrong with charging $375.00 a room so the person whose career is at Wendy's doesn't have to decide between rent and groceries?

Rent is decided by how much the operating cost is for the unit plus ROI plus location and amenities.

Sorry bud if I own a 4 unit complex that has a 600k mortgage on it plus insurance and maintenance costs, no way In he’ll the rent would be $400 per unit.

I'm talking about if you have a couple extra houses and you're renting the rooms out, and the houses are paid off, not a 4 building apartment complex that requires a property management staff including multiple maintenance men.

If I have a couple of extra houses I’m renting them out to max potential. Could be by the room or the whole house itself.

Doesn’t matter if I owe on it or not. I invested in that house and worked my ### off to pay for it. Now I want to enjoy the fruits of my labor.

Renting a house or apartment isnt predatory. Its suckering people into home ownership that is. The reality is most people don't have actual cash to buy a house but with credit all things are possible. Many folks look at the mortgage but are unprepared when the water heater or ac goes out.....what about when that roof needs to be replaced? Home ownership for many people is like the lease purchase in our world. Lease purchase drivers are glorified company drivers and people with mortgages are glorified renters.
