I think Gordon is going strictly to O/O's now. I don't think they take on trainees anymore. I spoke with someone in the office a short while back and that is what he told me.
But they are a decent company. Out of Tacoma.
Once he gets some miles and time under his belt, there are a lot of companies around the PNW that are good candidates.
But they require one to two years experience due to insurance restrictions.
Another company to check is Watkins-Shepherd out of Missoula. They don't do much for training but their drivers sure seem happy. They do take on drivers with no experience.

Gordon just offered me a company position yesterday pending I agree to 2 weeks training.

How many months experience does he have from England?

Thanks so much for the info . . . I will pass it on to him. We know he will have to take less pay that first year - and he is totally OK with it. He just wants to get that 1 year OTR experience under his belt so he can move up to better pay . . . and be able to get on with a good, reputable company or stay with the one he's been with for that year if they are giving him enough work :)

Thank you to all of you who have been helpful and have not made me feel any worse than I already feel after this whole nightmare. My husband realizes now that he should never have leased no matter what the circumstances . . . live and learn . . . and move on is all we can do - and I appreciate those who have come in and have been kind, considerate and helpful instead of rubbing salt in the wound by telling us how stupid we were . . .

    NavigatorWife Thanks this.

OnTheBackroads - he went through the entire school - phase 1 and phase 2 OTR training and in his own truck for just 8 days - so all in all real close to 2 months OTR. He has his CDL and medical card. He's going to work for Schneider in about a week. He's not going to lease though.

    NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Ive heard mixed things on Schneider but mostly good things about them when it comes to new drivers getting experience. If for some reason things don't work out there, the two I mentioned are good options for rookie drivers. He's been with the worst trucking outfit(I dealt with them too)and unless he's goes with Swift or Werner its unlikely the next experience will be anywhere near as bad. Best of luck with the orange upgrade! :)

    NavigatorWife and lbeck Thank this.

hello, Hoping to maybe shed some light at the end of the tunnel....CR England does care about their drivers. The system though we may not always agree with is put in place as the company grows to protect its employees and the employer. The 30 day warrenty is in place and there is Rick McDanials Shop foreman, I worked with for years with my company, leased and my purchased lease truck from CR England. There are avenues to be heard starting with the truck contract your husband signed endorsed by the leasing department. People waiting to help him and leasing advocates i.e. Karla Nichols ,explain the problem to her and let her research what, when and how. I was there almost 20 years and there are a lot of wonderful, helpful people there to help your husband get back on track. As for the student getting off his truck...that is the training department making sure the student stays rolling on schedule to complete all necessary requirements in a timely manner, to meet DOT and get him/her through house to pick up their hard copy of license and home visit and get rolling. Any time you think people don't listen.....just can't imagine my life without the support I had from them, and made some friends on the way. You can message me if you need any help...we are all family out here...sincerely suz

    Congrats!

What did he pick? OTR? Dedicated? Regional? Out of Salt Lake OC or is there a small OC in Oregon somewhere?

Mods should move this to its own thread and make it big and bold as this must be the one and only "good" review of CRE.... ever! :biggrin_2551: :biggrin_2556::biggrin_25523:

Well I will take that as a compliment, thanks....a lot of companies have foot traffic in and out....driver retention is based on so many factors. I would say your family, pay, home time, good equipment, terminal location are some important decisions. I notice after I wrote my message that her husband had already left there...so I wish him and his family well and safe travels. God Speed. Goodnight.
