    RightSideSlide's comment of "Try it now for a year or 2, then let's see what you have to say about it man. I double dare ya ". :biggrin_25523: Should you not at least HAVE a job before daring someone to get one !

    Yeah ok , I will just shutdown my business , sell off the trucks / trailers , put 8 guys out of work and go work for a MEGA carrier.

    Take your 3 years of EXPERIENCE and give what I do a try , you will learn pretty fast there are ?'s to ask.

    Why not try putting down the pecan pie and using an alabaster blow torch instead?

    Who am I talking to? What comment am I responding to? What the hell am I talking about?

    I guess I was supposed to know that, somehow...sorry.

    But who am I talking to, and what am I talking about?

    Maybe this would help...

    Yeah, now it makes sense.

    the company i work for sends a truck out to change a headlight if needed. mechanics dont drive trucks and drivers dont turn wrenches. its called job security for everyone. and by the way we do get paid 23.65 per hour while sitting for anything including sitting in dispatch office if the load is not ready by our dispatch time.

    I would never work for a company that doesnt reimburse me for EVERYTHING. I have turned in reciepts for $.30 for copies I was REQUIRED to make and I have been reimbursed everytime, no questions. Everytime I go to a terminal I make sure THEIR oil jug is filled with THEIR oil for THEIR truck so I always have oil. I was questioned last year why I buy fuel additive from Fleet Farm and turn in the reciept rather then buy it on my fuel card at a truck stop. Simple, the bottle of Howes that treats 300 gallons of fuel at a truckstop is $18.00. I get the same bottle at Fleet Farm for $10.00. I save them money and they know they dont have to treat me or hold my hand like a child. How long does it take to get a p.o. for gladhand seals? About 5 minutes.

    YeaH!
    What's wrong with them?
    Who do they think we are?
    What do they expect from us?
    Who do they think they are?

    They come here and accept TTR's warm invitation to join in on the discussions goin' on in the forums, and once they sign up and become a member of of the group, ---- what do they do?
    I'll tell y'all what they do, they post comments and/or ask questions in hopes that someone from on high will think that they're worthy of an answer. They're probably under the impression that those who post replies have actually read, and understand, the comments and/or questions presented by new members.
    Imagine that.
    How stupid is that?
    Get real.

    Then, when the new member is invited in and finds out that they're surrounded by a pack of rabid, condescending, arrogant, mongrel dawgs with a hair trigger, --- ready , willing and anxious to discharge their self-righteous load of bovine excrement for the slightest reason. Or no real reason at all, ...... just assumptions, it becomes necessary to activate the primitive fight or flight reflexes.
    And, depending on the choice, it goes up or down from there.

    Is the Big truck truckin' industry so hard up for drivers that they've lowered the standards to include logic, truth and facts?
    What's next?
    Respect?

    Then, just because the forum was unfriendly and rude, they log off and don't return for more doses of inappropriate behavior. Buncha mamby-pambies.
    I "wonder" the same thing, --- but not about them.

    On the flip-side of that coin, ----
    Some people don't listen long enough to realize that they oughta "shut up".

    It is better that one remains silent and be thought a fool
    Than for one to open their mouth and remove all doubt.

    It oughta be interestin' to see how much doubt some of the replies to this post will remove.
    Let's be honest here by admitting that y'all "stopped listening" before Truckin Squid submitted the post that begat this thread.

    Eyes wide shut and a closed mind.

    YeS it is "just toooo easy".
    So easy, I'd almost feel guilty for takin' advantage of the opportunity.

    Who indeed.
    Not much thought around here.

    OH!
    BTW and FYI, you need to check the third word in your sentence that I quoted. (See Above).
    Rumor has it that the Spellin' King Bees are makin' their rounds and singling out those who misspell words, and probably typos as well.
    When they discover a misspelling, they'll insinuate you're lackin' in the education department. But it's really a coy way of callin' someone stupid.

    That wouldn't be necessary if the lackluster truckin' company replaces the engine, ---- and the driver as well.

    Are you bein' serious about sleepin' for a week in a plastic chair?
    Or are you just bein' sarcastic?
    If so, .............. why?

    WoW!
    When you put it like that, it's plain to see that that would be a loss of $19.68 an hour, and almost a $200 loss in a 10 hour day. I'd need more fingers to count any farther than that.
    As the OP describes the truckin' company in question, what $16 for a gallon of oil is, is bein' taken advantage of. Five bucks for a light? Same thing. Assuming someone else's responsibility instead of correcting the problem is a cop out. Just because that's what you'd do, doesn't make it the right thing to do. Give some of these truckin' companies an inch, and they'll take a mile. Seein' as how most Big truck truck drivers are paid by the mile, ---- that ain't good.

    Geez, if you're that thick-headed and really need to be an arrogant twit, you could buy full-page advertising and have your co-driver carry a sign proclaiming the obvious. :withstupid:
    Wouldn't it be a hoot if that "someone else" turned out to be you?

    There's a good reason why you don't know where the professional drivers hang out.

    I realize that your questions are for Truckin Squid, but there was a clue in his original text, --- that bein' the word *he*.
    Are you a "he"?
    If not, chances are it ain't "you" who is.

    Then again, ........... I could be incorrect.

    "Desil" is ding-bat bait, ---- excrement, ..... used as bait to attract secret ding-bats who won't admit that they are, ........ and think no one notices.

    Hmmmmm -----
    I think it does say "a heck of a lot" about the schools now-a-daze.
    Back in the day when I attended institutes of learnin', we were taught to think, and figure things out for ourselves. For instance, take the word "desil", read the word by soundin' it out.
    Hmmmmmmmm ------
    Sounds a lot like diesel.
    Would the word "diesel" fit the sentence?
    Oh, look!
    It fits.

    Ya know, just betwixt you and me, I think your dumb questions and comment are only intended to be a lead-in for an opportunity to be snide, condescending and arrogant. Conceded is also a possibility.
    A legend in your own mind, no doubt.

    B I N G O !!!

    Thanx Jumbo.
    That IS what Truckin Squid said, ........ that the pack seems to have overlooked, .......... and/or ignored. Instead , they've gone off on a tangent fightin' windmills with a lance.

    Facts?!
    Who needs facts when it's much easier to assume?
    Facts are too confusin'.
    Besides, who's gonna know that what's passed off as fact, is, in reality, an unproven opinion at best, or an assumption at the other end of the scale.
    Very disappointing.
    A shame, actually.
    B I N G O and B I N G O !!!
    That's two BINGOs in one post!
    You're on a roll Jumbo.
    I'm impressed.

    Apparently you've read Truckin Squid's posts in their entirety and are familiar with their contents, 'cause you've managed to address the points he's made, and illustrate how far off target the aloof among us are.

    Awwwww ---- don't tease us.
    You must know the answer or you wouldn't be askin' the question.
    I'll bet it's just another way for you to slip in a snide innuendo, --- maybe even a subtle insult, ....... in a passive aggressive way.

    So, let me ask you the same question, that you'll probably ignore, ---
    What would YOU do in the same situation as you've described it?
    Those are two options possible.
    .If one fails to grasp the tone of the message contained within a post, you're doin' something wrong.

    Speakin' of doin' something wrong, as I recall, you were informed that YOU are doin' something wrong in the way you go about conductin' business. You were wantin' those who disagree with you to post their numbers so y'all could compare them in an attempt to come to a conclusion. Seemed like a reasonable request, and one that could separate fact from fiction. I anxiously awaited the replies, but the only replies were in the form of insults instead of numbers.
    Another case of smoke and mirrors and a bout of name-callin' to divert attention away from actually comparin' numbers, and actually learnin' something.

    Well, ........ we did learn SOMEthing about the release of hot air, and the effects thereof.

    Now, that right thar is important, must know info.
    About time SOMEbody asked it.

    Thanx Passingthru.

    For those asleep at the wheel, Passingthru just demonstrated how this website's Q & A forums are intended to function.
    Thanx again, amigo.

    Excellent parting shot, and great food for thought. But for some reason, the pack doesn't seem willin' to provide an answer, or any constructive information pertaining to the ramifications of spendin' one's own money to keep a company's equipment functioning.
    Instead, they've shot the messenger
    and ignored the message.
    How wise is that?

    Well, there's your answer, Bulletproof.
    Just as I suspected.
    Now you know what to do next time you run into a misspelling'.
    So easy, even a caveman could do it.
    WoaH!
    I stand corrected.
    The definition seems to include Morella as well as the guys.
    I reckon it's only fair to include The Lone Female when the slipper fits the foot. It lets one know where they stand, or if they don't have a leg to stand on. If it's a case of not havin' a leg to stand on, there's still a place that'll hire 'em. I-Hop.

    Can y'all hear me laughin' now?
    Instead of givin' Squid a hard time and offering dumb suggestions on how to succeed like y'all thought you were, ....... perhaps it's y'all who oughta be listenin' to the advice that Squid can offer.

    I've always said timing is everything, and you timed revealing that bit of information perfectly.
    I can hear the head gears turnin', searchin' for a pithy comeback, but what can they say?
    Why didn't YOU mention that up front?
    Following that train of thought, why didn't they inquire before goin' off on a tangent?
    Besides, we have a poster who knows all the exact questions to ask a potential employer, right? Stands to reason that poster would know to ask the right questions here as well.
    I wonder why pertinent questions went unasked?
    Maybe the person who knows all the right questions to ask will explain the oversight.
    But, personally, I'd bet big bucks they won't.
    (Egg on the face is funny)
    Check it out!
    A double shot of reality.
    The truth can hurt sometimes.
    And, truth be known, even those embolden with a pack mentality wouldn't, couldn't hide their desire to be paid by the hour instead of the miles. Especially when those mileage numbers tend to be 10 to 15% off compared to the odometer or hubometer, and very rarely does the HHMG over-estimate the miles.
    Go figure.
    I couldn't have said it better myself. :biggrin_25512:

    A most excellent analogy, Mook, and very well stated.
    It'll be interesting to see if your questions will be addressed, or if the pack will instead concentrate their combined energies on puttin' me in my proper place for bringin' attention to the errors of their way. That bein' when they concentrate on tryin' to appear to be what they're not, --- but COULD be if they'd quit lookin' in the mirror and snap back into reality.
    Funny thing is, the reflection they see, isn't reflectin' the same on this side of the monitor. I'm thinkin' that if they saw how they appear in reality, they'd be totally
    AfterSHOCKED.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DISCLAIMER ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    This post is to be viewed and considered as constructive criticism.
    It is not bashing, bad mouthing, belittling, or questioning anyone's intelligence. In actuality, it's a reversal of how a group, herein referred to as the "pack", have responded to another poster's comments, --- re-wrapped and returned by the same delivery method utilized by the pack.
    Doing that has been known to anger those who do the exact same thing themselves. Whether or not this current pack will make the connection remains to be seen. My hopes are that they will, and make the appropriate adjustments. Just doin' that would be a vast improvement, and much appreciated.
    But ultimately, the choice and decision is their's to make.
    No matter the decision, the practice of whippin' on a poster, ESPECIALLY when the whipper-snapper doesn't bother to get their facts straight, and instead of pertinent information bein' dispensed on the subject at hand, it becomes a bell-ringin' competition where no one's bell is heard over all the ruckus.
    I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
    No candy-coating,
    No bovine excrement
    If y'all insist on a certain way that y'all prefer to receive valuable information and/or sage advice, and ignore any other methods, be advised, you're stubbornness will be costly, to y'all and potentially others.
    If you require hand-holdin' and bein' told only what y'all wanna hear, there's a good chance y'all won't hear it from me. What y'all WILL hear from me is the truth. I won't present my opinion(s) as fact, and expect the same. I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion(s). I do NOT require that y'all always agree with me to be considered a cyber friend. Truth is, I welcome differing opinion(s) and stimulating conversation(s) that allow me to examine my opinion(s) closer after receiving additional information on a subject. I then consider the new information and, based on that conclusion, I'm either more secure with my opinion(s), or, after considering the new information carefully, I've been known to change an opinion of mine, no matter how long I've held that opinion.
    My ULTIMATE goal is the truth in any given matter.
    Nothing else really matters.
    My motto?
    Do the right thing, even
    when no one is watchin'.
    and
    The truth will set you free.
    It's twue!
    It's twue!
    How can you judge what someone makes based on CPM alone? You can't, and neither can I. There are truckers that can't make money driving for $2 per mile and others can be profitable on less than 90c per mile.
    Do you know their expenses? costs? truck/lease payment? Insurance? Fuel costs? Fuel surcharges? Taxes? Do you know if they are an LLC, a Corp etc? Do you know their net earnings? Do you know anything? The fact that you make juvenile claims about someones business based on only CPM tells me you don't understand the first thing about how to run a succesful business, only how to turn a wheel and shift gears..... maybe.
