Big Daddy Express LTD

I am an owner operator for 30 years, and I thought this company sounded great. He advertised $1.65 to $1.85 per mile. I went there (K-mart lot also) and sat for 2 to 3 days. He showed up in a black Mercedes SUV with gold all around his neck. He told me he didn't have a van for me to pull - so he came up with this reefer load. I picked it up in a dirt lot where I met his other foreign driver in a Volvo. I went to get fuel and there wasn't money on the card. I had to wait for him to put money on card. He gave me the load, and I took it to New England. First he asked me who was going to pay for the lumper. I told him he was or it was not going to get unloaded. It was not going to be me. He gave me a Comcheck. I'm sure he would have deducted it from me if I would have stayed longer. When I was empty, I called him, and he told me he had a van load for me, but I had to go to Ohio to meet another driver. He would take my reefer. I would take the van. His truck was falling apart. It was duct taped, leaking oil. It's a good thing I didn't sign the bills when I received the load from the other driver. The back door was falling off. It was held up by wire. The tires were bald. The trailer needed brakes. I was at the truck stop, and I told him if he wanted me to deliver it to Chicago, he would have to put tires and brakes on it. He begged me to pull it, and he would fix the trailer in Chicago. I told him if he didn't fix it at this truck stop, I was not going to pull it to Chicago. That's when he got nasty and said he would call the police on me for abandonment if I did not take the load to Chicago. I told him you do not have to call the police, I'll do it myself, which I did. I tried to get the DOT to put the trailer out of service, but they said they were not allowed on Petro's property. I put the load in front of Petro's service area for security reasons and went home. I didn't get paid for any of the loads which I didn't think I would. But for your information, he is still operating under a different name - Expressway Logistics. [spamming job site removed]
