I have to say that even if things happend as you said if you rear end someone you are going to be held responsible, unless you had had a dashcam you might have an leg to stand on, I say be thankful you are alive & didnt kill someone, good luck!

Wow, you rear-ended another truck and it's you companies fault you got fired, do you have some sore of elitist or entitlement mentality? Then to put yourself and Big G out on a public forum admitting your fault in the accident, good luck ever finding a decent job by the time the insurance company lawyers get finished with you. You admitted complete fault for the accident with your "3 truck length" following distance. 3 truck lengths at, lets be generous and say 80' each is 240'. Federal DOT guidelines call for 1 second for each 10 feet of vehicle length plus an additional second if travelling above 40 mph. So if your truck was, again being generous, 70' long guidelines would call for an 8 second following distance which at, again lets be generous and say 60 mph, would call for a minimum of 704' following distance. That means by your description of the accident you admitted on a very open and public forum that you, the so called safe driver was following too close by 464' or 5.8 truck lengths being generous and calling a truck length 80'.

Anything else you wish to add for the insurance company attorneys to use against YOU in court??

As for you not being on the hook for the other drivers injuries, bud, your on the hook for the next 2 years regardless of his decision to refuse treatment at the scene. You better pray to whomever you choose to worship he doesn't call a lawyer and that lawyer find this thread. If he does, you'll be working the rest of your life to pay his bills after the statements you made at the beginning of this thread.

You might consider changing your name and moving to a foreign country.

I'm sure Big G's lawyers are going to have a field day with you after they're done defending Big G. You problems haven't even begun.

    Time for study hall! :)

You need 1 second for each 10 feet of vehicle length below 40 mph. Speeds over 40 mph add 1 second!

We'll just say your vehicle is 70 foot which it's longer. That's 7 seconds plus 1 second = 8 seconds

Drivers get comfortable following closer. You get away with it 10 years and then something like this happens. Just because you got away with it for a very long time doesn't make it right. We're all guilty one time or another. You just caught the bullet. There are no excuses.

I had a similar incident on the Hotlanta 500. Heavy traffic, out of nowhere smoke boiled everywhere from everyone locking them up. I had no choice but to brake hard myself. I just knew I was going to eat the flatbed in front of me. Luckily I stopped about 1 foot short. But I knew it was my fault I got so close. I didn't hit him at no 65 mph. That sounds like distracted driving. You need to feel blessed you are still alive. Jumping for joy instead of passing the blame.

LMAO..even more so the part about "i have gotten this out of the way".
Just for the record, 68MPH comes out to 99.73333356 feet per SECOND. Good luck on anyone being able to stop with 45-46K pounds on (in) the wagon by 3.0 truck lengths. Based on an AVERAGE of 75 feet per truck length that would be about 2 1/4 seconds to go from 68MPH to a complete stop. Don't think you could do that even if you put the shiney side down and the greasy side up :biggrin_2556:
