****UPDATE **** (nothing to gain, just in case someone wanted to know)
Went back to work for Big G a year or so ago, theyve made some good changes over there, not a bad place to work now days.
From the word go they treated me very well, put me up in a nice clean motel, had a driver pick up all the new hires for our (PAID) orientation and took us back that evening, in just a few days we got our trucks and were dispatched.
Most of their freight is easy runs with no stress, just hold the little wheel and drive on down the road, travel lanes are north east (NO NYC), mid west and good amount of Texas and Florida, told them Ill run east just rather not all the time and they were good about mixing it up, you may see NJ for a couple weeks in a row then may not go back for a month, Chicago is very common but never had any down and dirty city work, mostly outside edges and west of the circle back into the TN, Texas at least once a month sometimes more same with Florida, all NOT TOUCH FREIGHT AND IF IT NEEDS LUMPED THEY PAY FOR IT, you dont unload anything.
Benefits are good, blue cross insurence with all the trimmings if you want them, (good insurence, I used it a couple times), the cost and deductables are better than most.
Dispatch was great to work with, they stay covered up so it may take a few mins to get the ball rolling but never was disrespected in any way, good people.
All the office workers are top shelf, prompt, helpfull and always willing to get things straightened out.
Pay aint bad but could be some better, depends on your experience as to start pay, but you wont go hungry.

I had sour grapes for a long time and for some reson called them back and they didnt hesitate to hire me back, real good experience with them, just so ya know.

Was it the company or the driver that caused pay to be so low? Easy to blame the company, but I highly doubt all the drivers who have been there years are sticking around for $500 - 600 paychecks.
