I know they've been out a long time now, and guys that like the joysticks prefer them over the antler rack, but I rented an immaculate 160H with 3800 hours on it last week from another contractor.

What a joy it was to run that!

Steering is definitely a bit more finesse-able with the old ones!

This one had two joysticks to control the blade and ripper along with forward/reverse and gear selection. I loaded at a Keen yard so I didn't have a chance to feel out the machine on the ground, unloading was interesting to say the least. Maybe all graders are like this, I've never run one before, but as soon as I clicked the selector into gear it took off like I dumped the clutch, even though I was standing on the brake. Forward/Reverse is selected buy a rocker switch on the back side of the left joystick, I had a 50/50 shot on guessing the right direction. I guessed wrong and almost drove right off the back of the trailer!

The machine had a throttle, brake, and clutch pedals. The clutch was basically an on/off switch, no ability to feather at all, luckily 1st gear was pretty slow. I'm sure it could have been a setting or basic operator error on my part.

Stuck under this bridge like a troll. As soon as the sun comes up I'm dragging these crates to the house. IMG_20211123_154417.jpg
