Empty on level ground you had near zero weight on the 5th wheel. Get in a swale with the rear axle in the air it would lift the drives off the ground. I argued over and over wanting a liftable front axle or even just a dump valve so I could chain it up but "management" wouldn't hear of it.
Talk about a miserable sob to drag around northern Wi in the winter... -
Things that make you bring out the sailors thesaurus to properly find enough words to describe the mood.
Filter blew out on the hydraulics as I was sitting the trailer down. I was taking it easy on it. Couple of gallons of ATF later and I did manage to disassemble and stack everything up properly lift it back up off the ground.
And when that filter blew out that stuff sprayed at least about 20 foot up into the air through the neck and of course right where I was standing that was fun. And of course it all got over everything so they'll be a wash visit.
Hard to tell but it blew out right on the seam of the filter. It was quite a bit more obvious with the pony running.
The Crane Yard was fortunately quick with the quick dry.

The new Dorsey combo I got has 2000 pounds of weight in the front on top of the king pin. It helps but it’s not really enough/ got to load weight 4/5’ forward of where i typically would to get the drives right if closer to gross with the machine on. Closed fixed tandem far back as they can be.
Spread axle units a front axle lift sposed to help offset the weight differential; I had that on the last one, scrubs the ever loving #### out of the front axle tires at higher weights though with the machine on/
48/102 it’s ~13k tare between the weights and kitLast edited: Jan 6, 2024
