Technically no, but in effect yes. Weight no, but once you get enough axles under you to really matter, your length requires it.
You need a pilot over 92'2" OAL in BC, but its much longer than that in Alberta, then you need 2 pilots over 100'1" I think, depending on if its night or day.
So by the time you get 10+ axles under you, your getting up there in length, especially if youve put sections in to stretch your well.

I know that over 200,000 gross KG (440,000lb) every bridge you take in BC you must center yourself in the middle, and travel no faster than 10 KPH (6.2mph) on the bridge deck.
I should also note that 10'6" wide to 11'6 needs a pilot at night, and 11'6-14'6 needs 2 at night.

440,000lb???? We need escorts to go over certain bridges at 140,000lb gross! I run 8 axles with a 14'1" stinger out the back and i'm at 87' in length. Some states over 85' you need escorts. Man you have it easy up there! I wouldn't even know how to price it without so many headaches.

    Yeah, heavy 13 axle.
How is your 8 so short? My 8 has a 26' well and a 14' stinger and im 90' with my single jeep hopped. Ive also only got a 230 wheelbase tractor.

Its even easier in Alberta. Youve got to be better than 24' wide before you need three pilots.

We can also permit up to 24,000kg on tandem and 29,000kg on tridem.
    (53,000lb / 64,000lb)
