Wait till your on E-Logs like Saddlesore and I and have a load like we had a couple years ago. Due to the Daylight/Night and bridge construction move requirements in the Portland, OR to Everett, WA portion of the trip it took us 2 1/2 days to do 100 miles.

Thanks for the pics Sam, but I can't help but giggle just a tad at how your machines over there seem to all have safety railings around the engine compartment areas! :biggrin_25525:

I'm on E-log. I have an attitude, (some people have a problem with it, I'm personally quite alright with it). I don't care, I run the night portion, then complete the remaining time that is required like the old system of broken segment. Teams are still allowed to do this, don't see why under special circumstances we can't be too. I put a comment in that it was a mandatory night move as per state and permit number and carry on.

I've had many DOT officers literally look at it for extended periods of time, and hand it, back to me and tell me to have a good day. I don't know if they're dumbfounded that I'd be stupid enought to actually do this or if they just don't want the hassle of dealing with it. I have several pages of paper log sheets, logged exactly how I moved, that are signed off by state patrol & DOT officers along with their badge numbers when they escorted me & they decided when we moved. I'd be more than happy to enter them into court as "Exhibit A" if I was to go to court to fight a ticket over this, if it's OK when I'm with them, it should be OK when I'm under special circumstances with OS/OW permits that have specific details when I'm on my own.

I'm gonna start a thread shortly, as there is a group putting a proposal together to obtain an exemption code from the FMCSA for specifically circumstances such as these type of permit conditions...stay tuned as we will require signators for this proposal. Being as this is an extremely small segment of the industry we are trying to make the FMCSA aware that their new rules hinder us from doing our jobs without violating Federal, State, & other jurisdictions rules as they contradict each other.
