HH is like being a heavyweight fighter. If you're in the gym, working out daily, in the rhthym, sparring, got the coordination down for every fight, you will be fine in the big fight. If you've been slacking, odds are youre going to lose when all the chips are on the table.

In this forum, we had a discussion about height poles. We've discussed pilot cars. Do you know how many drivers grab up oversized loads and dont read their permits, or dont look at a map, or provision sheets, or do their pre trips, post trips, trip planning' fuel stops, whatever...and get under a big load/superload and bomb? I'd say 50%.

(Not getting preachy, so bear with me) There is an old proverb that says, 'He that is faithful in little will be faithful in much.' In other words, if you slack in the little loads, the non important loads, youre going to slack in the big loads too. However, if you do your homework on the 10-12 wides, dot your I's and cross your Ts on the smaller loads, you will do it on the bigger loads. Then, the only thing you worry about is the drive. And driving is the easy part, right? Riiiiight. That's a whole lot of finesse needed at the controls to run that load out of Trois Rivieres.

I've been to Trois Rivieres. I've been to Yellowknife. That's a big load. That's a difficult run. That's a top notch driver. I like to see drivers that can execute a plan.

Ron, if you were a goof up, you would have put yourself out of business a long time ago.

Thanks but not for lack of trying.

Just nervous about the step up in trailers in April

Good news - probably not going to Canada for a while

So as I passed through Clayton NM today I stopped at the love's to order my TX permit and grab a sandwich. Guy from comes up to me and says the scale is not allowing OD loads to travel because it's Friday and only loads with escorts are allowed to move , huh?

Says they made him drop his trailer at the scale.

I go past the scale and his 3+1 is sitting there on the ground. No way he was under the 90' limit and couldn't figure out that he needed an escort to get out of there

    Really?

    Looks like fun. :biggrin_25523:

Hauling shacks from Ft. Mac to the docks in Montreal (Valleyfield) last year. I knew we were in trouble when our pilots stopped to ask for directions from pedestrians. :biggrin_2554:

ex-450.jpg EX-450 on my <16-8-8> 9 axle. These & Cats 345s were the easiest 9x loads to ever haul. 12w/14h/98'L. machine was just under 100K, 170K gross max. You could load & be gone in 20 minutes.

TripleSix, you're stroking my ego, and I can't thank you enough. This is not the largest, or even the most complex load or plan that I've taken on. It's just another day at the office by my standards...

It's few and far between that actually get it, and for those of you that are like his previous post stated, rookies & wannabe's, even Six doesn't know how correct he is. He can't. It's simple, he doesn't possibly have any idea what else I've been dealing with behind the scenes. On a personal level, I've never been so challenged in my life...the challenge continues when I fly back to the load, again, on Monday.

Six, one day my friend I hope we shall meet out on the road. I will buy you a beer and we'll discuss the details...until then, I can't thank you enough for the appreciation.

Like I said before, just ask. If I can help in any way possible, I will. I'm quite sure you'll do just fine

I do understand. I've pulled big loads. I've pulled heavy. My first thoughts were, "getting out of Trois Rivieres would be a pain." My second thought would be fuel. Been to Yellowknife, but havent done the ice roads.

I have pulled some big loads. Ive pulled some big loads to Canada, but never to NWT. Pulling out of Trois Rivieres with a load that size is not that easy. Once you got out on the open road, your biggest challenge was fuel. I'm not saying that run is the most difficult run that you will ever do...I'm saying that in order to execute a load like that, to successfully deliver a load like that, in the time frame that you did, you have to be a top level driver to do it. The best of the best. Congrats on a job well done, HH.
