My answer is yes for a couple of reasons. #1 is the challenge and #2 is the pay. When #1 gets to be too much I remind myself of #2.
I am a company driver, I get to drive a brand new KW decked out with everything including satellite TV that my company furnishes and below is my paycheck for the 1st to the 15th of this month.

This picture isn't wide or tall or heavy but it should catch your eye. I am posting it here because I am inclined to hang with those that carry red flags & wide load signs in their toolboxes. This May 28-30th in York, PA is the annual Antique Truck Show sponsered by the A.T.H.S. (American Truck Historical Society) . Some of you may be members. It is the best antique truck show you will ever see. It is moved each year to the east, central & west areas of this great country of ours. If you are not a member, go to their website: www.aths.org & give it a look., join ATHS for around 45 bucks & get 6 magazines a year that have some of the best stories & history about old trucks & trucking you will find anywhere. At these shows, there is always plenty of parking for the truckers & their rigs that just want to stop & attend the show. Another note, In 2009 I had the honor & privilege of driving the 53 Pete as seen in this pic to the show in Huntsville AL. from Sacramento, CA. I got the gig from a friend of mine that drove the other red Pete, he drives for Walmart & is the most professional driver I know. The trucks had "Historical Vehicle" plates so there were no log books, no IFTA, no temp. registration. We did have to cross scales however but got nothing but thumbs up from the law dogs. The 53 Pete is owned by a gentleman from Sacramento, one of 30+ vintage trucks he owns & restored beautifully I might add. This Pete had a BC400, 10 sp. OD & at least 355s in back. AC/ PS and 750 miles a day was easy as pie. If there is enough interest I will start a thread of old truck pics. I have 30 or so from the 09 show. PS. That pic of the speedometer is in Oklahoma E/B in 9th gear................maybe 10th, been a while.

Here's a 10N on the 1984 Cozad 16-8-8. I had an annual permit with this county that gave me 15High, 15wide, & Bonus Purple weight which was 20K, 46,725, 58,405, 46,725, 46,725 & they required 2 pilots with this load, which was ok. Next County,10 miles to the north, they insisted on 24 hrs to write the permit, 2 pilots & 3 CHP escorts ( for loads 14' & over) at a tune of nearly $800, what CHP charged. It took me a year to talk them into that annual permit but was well worth it.
skootertrashr6, Cetane+, tsavory and 4 others Thank this. -
just picked up my first load as an O/O.
It's been a long time coming, after having to do an overhaul on the motor right after getting the truck, but it's good to finally get back out on the road. Plus it a pretty good loaf to break in the motor with too.macavoy, Cetane+, skootertrashr6 and 4 others Thank this.
