If there are not that many places to secure then you use bigger chain and go to the frame instead of the stake pockets.

I'd put 7 point minimum. 4 points for wheeled vehicle, 2 for the articulation, 1 for the bucket. Now, if it was heavy, 8/2/1.tsavory Thanks this.

That wheel loader I posted on the last Page I had 2 on the front, 2 in the middle with the steering pin locked in and 2 on the rear with a strap going around the bucket to also hold in a box they decided was a great idea to put in the bucket.
tsavory Thanks this. -
You have to hit your minimum wll also, I'm sure that loader is relatively heavy and with direct tiedowns you would need several just to hit your minimum. I don't know about the rest of the country but in Ohio the DOT love articulation locks.

What did it weigh and how big we're your chains?
-
1/2 inch, that's all I carry. Machine was 48,000lbs

I'll second what triplesix said. I carry almost exclusively 1/2, but I have a few 3/8 and id use one of those for the bucket, but 1/2 for all the rest

Hey if straps work then why not 5/16" chain?
I moved a 64k loader one day and had 6 each 1/2" chains and 2 each 3/8" chains on the darn thing. It was heading to the scrap pile, had no brakes, parking or other wise. The boss made a comment of me not wanting that thing to move. I told him that was one thing he did not have to worry about with my loads. Nothing will come off the trailer while I am driving it. Needed that many chains to keep all the pieces from coming off... LOL It was an old log loader that was broken in certain places on the frame and barely made it onto the trailer. -
No i knew it lacking on the chains those looked like 5/16 but hard to be sure most equipment I had to haul was front loaders and trackhoes but a lot smaller and with 1/2" 4 corners and a 3/8 on buckets covered it.
