If trucking is what you are involved in then its part of your life. Relating this to your question it all depends on your moral worth as a human being I suppose.
I understand how the honesty, and integrity is supposed to work on both ends. My rant is directed at the fact not many people abide by any morals in this industry. I can only vouch for myself. Stay loyal, and expect the same from the people in my life.
I get what you are saying. I'm being judgmental which is easy when things are working out for one. Believe me when I say I have seen what you are talking about first hand but you cant be responsible for others , only yourself. Hard to do when you know you are being screwed over but still the right thing to do.
Well I finaly got home and had time to check on this. CRST wil not let me go over to Malone for ATLEAST 6 months, more like 8 months. My previous codriver I was with when first posting this no longer... and will probably be losing his job soon. His driving skills were horrid. He had 6 months whel tme, I have 2 and he had me do 90% of his backing for him. The guy could not even make a left turn without me watching and directing him.... /sigh. It was a horrid month I just spent on the road. Crst will let me out of the contract if we can come to some sort of agreement on me paying my financial obligation to them. YES, I will do this. I wont back out of said contrat, I am an honorable man. I will be talking to melton some more tomorrow I think, and seing how they feel about the contract and me coming to them. I think Melton would be a good fit as they allow wife and dog riders. Right now with CRST I am getting .25c a mile. I bring in about 500 a wek I guesse, not 100% sure there. I should keep better track, but 500 is about right. Will keep an eye out on this thread while I am home. I really appreciate all the advice. Stay safe.
YEah CRST is 100% team driving on the expedited side where I work. they REFUSE to allow solo unless your an o/o. Cant switch to other divisions till you put in time 6+ months.
You could make double what you're taking home driving solo at most companies. Melton will be a good fit if you're a hard worker and pride your work. Good job on taking the honorable route and doing what's right for you and your morals.
Yeah I am trying to find a way to fulfill my financial obligation to CRST asap so I can move on and drive solo. It may take a couple months, but I will do it. Thanx all for the solid advice. Wish I would have had such good advice at this time last year....
I believe you're making the best decision one could make in your position. People that say screw them and move on will never achieve their goal of landing a great job that a lot of drivers work so hard to get because of a move like this. You can bet that CRST or any company is going to make every attempt to recoup their money. You can also bet that they are good at it. So it will go on your credit report. Nowadays companies are running credit checks on new applicants and if they see a mark like nonpayment they just say "Next". I am a believer that you must keep every record you have in life as clean as you can. Some day it might just pay off for you. It did for me and I ended up with the job I had set my goals for. I really don't believe that a company should check credit for a job unless maybe if you're handling a huge amount of money . It's hard for a young couple to make ends meat when they have kids to feed and maybe only one can work. So they struggle to raise their kids and maybe a bad mark or two goes on their credit report. That person gets a CDL and goes to work and is outstanding in every aspect of driving and a company believe he's a risk because he was late on a couple of house payments. Like I say I believe it should not be allowed. Stay clean and show your perspective company you're an asset.
