Because I'm not so savvy with I-phones/mac and don't want or see a need to learn it. For my needs (web surfing and emailing) one OS is as good as another so I stick with what I know.

so you could go with a normal Android tablet if you don't need to run Windows specific programs. you will need a tablet with GPS to work right with the big road app
-
I thought android was windows based? Doesn't matter, yeah android is what I know. Tablet needs a GPS for BigRoad, ok, got it. I'm guessing that's how it helps keep up with IFTA.
-
Well there are the three different operating systems. Android is the most common. You already know about the apple OS. The windows tablets/ phones are in a distant minority. So make sure you look for an android tablet with GPS. The GPS is used on mine to record what town and state I am in every time I change duty status. I do not know about the IFTA features of Big Road. I just use the IFTA miles reporting from my Rand and Garmin GPS.

Good point

It never ceases to amaze me how drivers justify not following a given regulation, logging or otherwise because 1 or 2 officials let them skate by with it or they didn't get caught....yet.
-
I disabled the GPS for Bigroad APP on my iPad because the GPS mileage would sometimes differ from the mileage I enter manually. On the website there were a few red flags so I decided to disable GPS and do everything manually.

Understand 2 things... print does not specify the equipment OR the speed at which the printing occurs. As such, carrying a blank logbook which you can copy your logs into does fit the capacity to 'print', with yourself as the printer.
But... if dot is already anal, this is not one you are likely to win at roadside. Probably not at all. -
From a carrier standpoint we have been VERY happy with Big Road. One of the nice things for both the carrier and the driver is it gives a warning where there are forum and manor violations. I know it is a little big brother but in this day and age of how important CSA scores are we need to keep every point off that we can.
And because we don't have a clerk riding in everyone's trucks making sure they didn't forget to dot and I or cross a T this is a pretty good thing.
The drivers and dispatch seem to also really like the communication functions.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
So some of you use the fleet? I just use the app on my phone/tablet as long as you print them before 14days you'll have them over that they gone!
Cetane+ Thanks this.
