I saw one my 1st week OTR. Car vs. Motorcycle in this case car was in the wrong, made a left into bikers path.

Moving on from that, this is just my sick sad belief, but as an American I get irritated when the government takes it upon themselves to take away my right to chose. If I wanted to be stupid and not wear a helmet or safety belt that should be MY choice. If I am over 18. Now kids should always have to, because well they are too young to know what they are messing with there. But I for a fact KNOW that if I ride a cycle without a helmet and I get into an accident I am most likely going to die. I also know that if I ride in a car/truck without a seatbelt and get into an accident I have a higher percentage of dying. Again though, that is MY choice. I should be allowed to make it myself.

    But'cha gotta remember -----
    The "government" is US.
    YuP!
    BY and FOR the PEOPLE.
    "People" --- that's us. :yes2557:

And, as an added bonus, the government
    by and for the people,
has figured out a way for us --- all the people to pay a portion of
the protection we all think we need
    from and for ourselves.
    Or so we're told.
    Government Knows Best(?)

    YuP!
And not necessarily "stupid" either. :biggrin_25512:
    And y'all know WhAT?
More than likely, y'all's health insurance carrier is hopin' for that to be the case.
So they can close the case.
    Just in case.

    They count beans!
Extended and/or lengthy medical problems take the beans away.
And the bean-counters never seem to know how many beans it'll take -----
Compared with the number of beans they have to count to cover the bills incurred.
    Statistically, ...... twue.
    BuT!
    BuT!
Yo government is just tryin' to HeP y'all! :yes2557:

Been flamed before for this elsewhere and probably will again, but my opinion hasn't changed.

The modern city traffic roads are no place for a motorcycle anymore, if it ever was a good idea. You're too small, can't be seen in a mirror, and expect others to look out for you anyway. Blaming cars will not get you through a day safely, it's dangerous and foolhardy and you should accept full responsibility for this choice... basically the danger certainly must be part of what makes it so appealing.

So in spirit I have no problem sharing the road with them when I know they're there... but when I do and I slow down to let them pass.. I get this good deed feeling, as if I've just helped a retarded person cross the road. When they speed by I get a sick feeling in my gut that they're going to crash... and they will sooner or later, I just don't want to see it. And all of you have stories. I would only need ONE! Wouldn't even have to be my own.

Save a little longer to buy the whole car! Or go hobby riding down some scenic farm roads or hills or something. :biggrin_25512:

That is why LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!

All of these states that are talking about making laws against loud pipes better be prepared for more accidents! I cant tell you how many times I have had to blip the throttle to wake up a stupid cager!

I choose not to wear a helmet because if the accident is bad enough all the helmet will do is make sure you live as a vegetable, if I die riding then by god I've died while doing the thing I love most!

Many studies have shown that in ALOT of accidents the weight of a helmet on your head is enough to snap your neck and kill you. When I have worn a helmet, (DANG GEORGIA LAW!) I find that I am not nearly as aware of my surroundings both visual and audible.

Sorry, but LOUD pipes do not save lives. If you ride backwards they might. When you ride forward the sound leaves the rear. If you answer truthfully you will agree with me, while in a cage or on a bike you have had bikes/cars with LOUD pipes come up on you before you knew it, now once they went by you could hear them good. When I pass a truck, I make sure I have enough room to get by them quickly, and far enough ahead to get back in front where they can see me. You have to ride as you are invisible and everyone is trying to run over you.
HELMET LAWS = Let those who ride, decide.

I wanna ride my rocket in traffic, and YOU'D better watch out for ME!

Rude and selfish on the road. Those pipes allow you to be rude and selfish when I'm in my living room too.
