I'm not following what you are saying here, I don't have any problems I can't handle, I put my job number on the logs and the inspections I have been in for they have never questioned what I have in the box, I am ALWAYS POLITE AND VERY COURTEOUS AND ANSWER EVERY QUESTION to the "T"

I like to think a Trip# is sufficient.. I mean, its a cross reference to the data they are looking for. In many cases, it would require them to contact a terminal office to get the BOL#s related to the Trip #'s, but at least they have a trail to follow.
But whatever.. can't hurt to write an extra number or two down, so I will.. in the event that I'd rather be safe than sorry or have to fight a dumb ticket. -
So you work for an ltl company and have 10 shipments on board with 10 bol, and do not use trip numbers or anything like that, what then?
That rule is just there to give drivers a hard time. -
we use are trip# and thats all, the company doesn't want us using shipper/commodity so if someone broke into the truck (cab) and found the log book they couldn't tell if we have a load of scrap or a load of ps3's.
ran into dot officer Buford T. Justice one time at the scale on NC (he was doing logbooks checks on the scale) and started to give me a bad time about using trip#, told me to park and come in. i parked and called in the my safety dept as i walked in and told them when was going on and they said if he tried to write me to call them back.
the short is he tried, i called, waited 20min and he got a call (looked pissed) and i was free to go with NO TICKET. -
Guess Buford T. got put in his place
, These LEO's have superiors as we do, They need to be contacted if they are doing something wrong. I understand completely you don't want to make waves but they need to do the limits of their jobs and nothing more, When they go beyond those limits then others need to get involved.
