The ONLY part of any dealership i deal with is the parts counter. And most the time there are better options.
I will say fyda in Youngstown has very competitive prices for parts, so i go there often.

You’re getting off lucky, I really don’t see the problem. You could have had a parts changer just start changing parts and really cranking up the bill. Diagnostics is much easier when you’re not working with bastardized stuff like a swapped engine with a who knows what ecm. I got a $5k bill for basically a brake job and fix some air leaks a few months back, does that make you feel better?

You won’t get billed for 11 hours.. stealerships take forever because they mix and match and swap work.. joe blow hasn’t been working on your truck for 10 hours, joe blow started on it after lunch and and diagnosed it then went on to something else until mr shop manager told him when he finishes what he doing then go back a fix your ride..
Truckermania Thanks this. -
yeah i've worked with dealerships that have a punch clock for each job so a guy will go work on a truck for 15 minutes, drop off the parts slip at the parts desk, clock into a different truck, go work on that one, then maybe find a question he needs to send off to the dealer "mothership" for clarification or something, punch into another truck, punch out, go help someone else with something heavy that requires two techs. I got one bill for a truck that had the guy working no more than 5 minutes at a time 20 times over the course of a day. seems like a weird way to work, but it's none of my business if the bill isn't bad.
