at one time (i was in Iowa at the time for orientation at the now defunct PST flatbed) and there i was in orientation, and a TMC class was also staying at the same motel, and they were told they get a "polishing kit" and that you MUST polish the rig. now of course, that could have changed since then.

 

I heard today that TMC runs a real shiny outfit. Kick you out of school for walking on manicured grass type stuff. Also that it was started and is owned by retired Marines.

Not a knock on it. I sort of the get the draw, it's just my style is more sapphire rings, divorce papers, and long hair.

They sure do and they pass that attitude down to their drivers

 

Tmc has good training program and u will learn the correct way to run a flatbed , but i never met a tmc driver that wasnt a complete douche

I believe the requirement is 10 years. Still absolutely and utterly ridiculous nonetheless

 

when i had worked at a company up in Medway Ohio, (not far from Dayton??) when you pulled into the terminal, there was a pond across from the shop, you were told, DO NOT run over the ducks, turtles or other critters crossing the path.

i said to the safety guy giving me that road test, "i do not brake for animals".

i was still hired and got on the GM dedicated JIT board...lol

at a cement plant here near me, i was returning from a road test with the mechanic, a pair of squirrels ran across the driveway...mechanic said to me, "DON'T RUN OVER the squirrels"

i said to him, "they get in front of me, they die"....

i was still hired but i decided not to take the job, as it was construction, and when told the LONG HOURS of work, i said, "g'byeee, your squirrels are safe from me now".

 

Respectfully, I think you’re misunderstanding why some mega trucking companies say to run over animals. The main reason is because it is far less expensive to run over an animal than to try to avoid it on public roads, and in doing so, accidentally cause an accident where people get hurt or die. Now, if you’re driving on a private property where there’s probably a speed limit of no more than 15 mph, then this wouldn’t apply. Please don’t run over the property ducks! Poor little guys.
