This is being done for money. It has nothing to do with safety. It is the big carriers who support EOBR's. In fact, I would wager you that it is these big carriers who are heavily invested in the companies who will be making these EOBR's. Electronic monitoring is not necessary. It is the money, not safety that is the real issue. And don't forget control. We have a government that is addicted to control.
The ones it will hurt the most are the smaller carriers and owner operators who can afford this additional cost the least.

You all forget....Mandatory EOBR's mean if the shippers/receivers dick around with the loads and the clock runs out....The truck can't legally move...So if you're backed into the dock and the timer goes "ding"....Too bad...too sad....for the shipper/receiver....The truck ain't gonna start....

I also heard that congress wants to place cameras in the cab as well....I heard this flipping through the news...Didn't catch the whole story...Anyone hear about this too?

don't worry. if you meet me out on the road, by the time you screw around for 10 hours off i'll be way ahead of ya in the am.
wake up. trucking has a bad rep because there's money in it. plain and simple. if you can villify an industry with money, you can over regulate it and get some of that money. drive down the road and you tell me who causes the near misses most of the time, big trucks or 4 wheelers?
go to swift. or werner. or whatever log-legal company you wanna run for. work for peanuts while being gone weeks at a time. there are thousands of posts on this board of drivers starving trying to make a living out here. i'm not one of em. been there done that no thanks. get a few miles in and we'll see how ya run. better yet, buy a truck and have some responsibility for your own company and we'll see how much you care about stupid laws designed to make the gov't moneyLast edited by a moderator: Sep 30, 2010

Sure it will start. They put enough leeway into the software so that you can move the truck from a dock to a VERY nearby parking spot. Go past that limit, and all hell breaks loose!

I've heard this too. IMO this is just way overkill. Seriously? A camera? Sounds like some sick idiots perverted fantasy. I can see it now, a lot of cameras ripped out and layin on the side of the highway. Or at least putting duct tape over the lenses. Just too much...

stats have proved that 4 whrls cause most of the truck/car accidents. i run 3500mi a week. figure as many trucks as are on the road, as many miles as they drive, they're gonna bump into stuff once in awhile. figure a truck at 80,000 vs. car at 3500. when they bump together, car go boom. simple physics. you can blame the evil trucker all a want, the numbers dont back you.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 30, 2010
