It's 10:55 here. Was about to head to bed when got Emergency call to come to jail. Didn't know we had a jail. Had to get generator started and a couple of a/c s going. Taliban prisoners coming in. Now this is a dump, but Geneva Conv says they must have a/c. BS! Got back a few minutes ago and 3 truckloads of Afghan Army Commandos and their SF leaders came flying in here. No one speeds but they all piled out and were whooping it up. Near as I could tell they had just been in some major battle and kicked the Hell out of the Taliban. Hope so. Most of the regular AA is not to threatening looking. These guys are much closer in size and intelligence to US guys.

APU's run off of the truck's diesel. They're air tanks for the trucks brakes, and 2ndary air systems. (ie:transmission, suspension, etc) The setup is common on trucks OTHER than freightliners..

Some trucks such as the Volvo's depending on if they have the side skirting(fairings) equiped or not have the air tanks visible under the driver steps in front of the fuel tanks. Some trucks they are chrome, some are black. Also depending on the truck the locations can vary.
