When I see FedEx doubles upside down in the median, it's probably icy and I should slow down.

Hmmm. Your post is a perfect segue. This happened to FedEx doubles on black ice.

The eternal argument around here remains whether the driver of the doubles was at fault for going slow and careful on the ice and didn't maintain control. Or whether the other truck was going too fast for the icy conditions and the "blow-by" caused the wreck in the first place.

It looks like Stevens hit the dirt though

He started getting out of shape when the Stevens truck was coming up on his cab. Looks like the blow-by from Stevens kicked the rear FedEx wagon to the side, leading to loss of control.

Edited after another look: You can see the image sway to the left and it looks like he struck the tail of the Stevens trailer and spun to the right. As far left as Stevens was, it's hard to say that he encroached. However, the speed differential suggests Stevens was going too fast for conditions. No speed indicated, so it would be hard to defend the FedEx driver. He was slower, but apparently not slow enough not to lose control. You could say a hard cross wind would have spun him out in the same way.

Yah. We went round and round here with it because it was one of our customers & units recording it. It is one of those "trucker-academic" arguments that really can't be settled around the campfire. And I do not know how the whole thing wrung out in the end in terms of police or insurance. In the full video, you can see that he is being super careful with those doubles when prior trucks go by and so forth. And you can see that the wall of pressure pushes his rear trailer, causing his tractor to veer into the passing truck on the ice. But your post and this thread was SO applicable that I finally uploaded it anyway. Unfortunately he had had not connected his GPS antenna that came with it, so you can't get the Google earth view or the speed off it.

Interesting vid though considering the black ice topic here anyway.
