I wonder why you can still buy them if they are illegal? (wheel spinners)

I almost broke my elbow on one of those suicide knobs one time.

Apply with Paschall Truck Lines also. Don't badmouth the old company, but be honest about what happened. The lady in the office at Paschall, that looks at the applications, has a good reputation for being able to read between the lines about some of these companies. She might approve you. They have several accounts and one of them is hauling auto parts from Laredo,TX to Michigan; not that you would get that run regularly, but when you do, it's some serious miles.

You said you paid them back you should have proof of the cost. Did you take pictures? That should be automatic when an event happens.

Was an accident report written up by DOT?

Could you of tied the deer killer up and drove it back to the shop?

If your boss thinks a suicide knob makes or breaks being a truck driver he is an idiot. They are not made for trucks and are a personal choice. They are made for low speed off road equipment where repeated turning is necessary. Have a steer tire blowout and a suicide knob can do some serious finger breaking. I see it as laziness for a truck driver and unless you own the truck they do serious damage to the steering wheel. Take one off and see the big indentation they leave. That helps when you try to resell it. If I was buying a used truck I would tell them to replace the wheel or I'm moving on to further prospects. Nobody wants to hold on to a sharp edge indent all day long. I had a truck like that, I hated it.

Holding someone back from bettering himself is a selfish idiot. He doesn't sound much of a honorable man.

As far as the blackballing goes if the repair was simple and he is inflating the cost in retaliation to keep you there I would consider talking with an attorney. There is such a thing as slander which can be costly in court. If he inflated the cost he can also be investigated for insurance fraud. An adjuster should of inspected the vehicle. There is proof out there if one digs.

There is also owner operators and small outfits that hire and fail to do background checks. If the charge sticks you'll just to have to make do for 3 years to get it outside many company's hiring requirements of no more than 1, 2, 3 accidents in the past 3 years.

They are not illegal as far as enforceable by the DOT. There are OSHA standards regarding limiting their use to off road vehicles.

This company is probably a bottom feeder, and is paying on a 1099 since you don't have any benefits?

How many trucks do they have? Is there some way to check to see if they even reported a major dot preventable accident that year? Aren't those records public? May be an easy way to document they are full of BS.

    Get away from these people.

Oh the spinners are only legal if you are wearing finglerless gloves, an orange safety vest, and a bluetooth headset. (joking) We used to call them 'neckers knobs' on cars.

Outside of the proof of the accident you had you have, with the clean record, there is no real proof of it happening as far as the new company is concerned or am I missing something.

There is a lot of issues with former employers saying more than they are supposed to say when they get called for references, like the driver is lousy and wrecks everything they drive - ain't really allowed. In this example I would think that the new company did you an injustice by just accepting the old companies claim and no asking any other questions. I would not have gone back to the old company but applied for other jobs and established a pattern to see first if you can get other work and then if not put on notice the owner through a lawyer seeing he is retaliating against you. A good lawyer would hire one of those firms that actually checks these things out to pursue a lawsuit for lost wages and potential income.

By the way, this isn't blackballed or black listed, it really is impossible for that to happen in this industry.

I would like to have one of those illegal cell phone jammers & shut some people up that think everyone is interested in what they have to say. It's a big fine to be caught using one.

No, it was a County deputy that just controlled traffic while I was pulled out.

I guess the half dozen DOT officers that have inspected my truck must not have known they were illegal. Whooped em again!!! Man, am I lucky they didnt know.

No that would be accurate. No other proof. Just their word against mine.

And the reason I went back to/going back to work for him, is that I had a small window in which all my bills were paid, and with the holiday, there are few loads going out/delivering. So, I would have been shorted on this week anyways. I obviously don't make enough to get ahead working for him, so I don't have a nest egg to fall back on to look for a different job.
