That driver in Nashville could have took 440 as well. That's why trip planning is so important

I have had a pole car show up that did not have a measuring tape. Sent him back home.

They don’t need one. Have him sit his fat arse in his vehicle and you set the pole with him inside the car. Always do it the same way. You set the pole. Every time he stops for a break. Every morning.stwik, LoneCowboy, SavageMuffin and 2 others Thank this.

It’s always the drivers fault, no matter the extenuating circumstances.
Have had the state route me towards a low bridge, not just a little short either, 14’7” bridge 17’8” load, all that permit did was save me from getting a ticket from the cops that we called out to shut the road down so we could back up the highway to get around it.
The excuse, I’m where I’m supposed to be according to my permit, is null & void once you hit something.stwik, Truckermania, QuietStorm and 4 others Thank this. -
Many states state quite clearly in the permit that it is the responsibility of the permittee to ensure that they do not damage anything while in transit.
Can't get much clearer than that, yet people still want to blame a permit when they get stupid.stwik, SavageMuffin, cke and 1 other person Thank this. -
There you go, expecting people to actually read the permit & be responsible.stwik, Feedman, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this.

I know in Ohio at least if the state routes you under a structure and you’re at or below your permitted height and you hit something it’s still your fault.
stwik, SAR, 4mer trucker and 3 others Thank this. -
Ran a load to the middle of nowhere Nevada a few weeks ago. The place I was going to was on the opposite side of the interstate. I was 14'10H and the bridge under the interstate was 14'3". So the state sends me up to the next exit to turn around. That underpass was a 13'4" vertical clearance and 1 lane in each direction with no shoulders.
Next exit past that was 18 miles away over a small mountain pass. Ran the pass both ways dragging 200K lbs at 18mph. 44 mile detour and well over an hour of time.NoBigHurry, SAR, cke and 2 others Thank this. -
This might seem silly but what's a pole car? I honestly don't recall ever seeing one (and I see oversize/superloads pass through here very often).
johndeere4020 Thanks this.
