Does your trailers have reference tape or marks on the landing gear? You push your trailer into the space by turning to the right all the way and moving until you pass the v shaped thing on the opposite side on your landing gear, meaning once it comes into view in your mirror, stop. Then turn all the way to the left to move your tractor in.
Really someone should be showing you. Reading it is probably just confusing you.
Check YouTube for some tutorials maybe.

What got a lot of students was they backed while turning there wheel and it screwed them up. Turn steering wheel all the way before you begin backing. Those parking spaces are set up to be done that way and when the steps are followed exactly as described, it goes in perfectly.

So don't wait till rear tires hit first set of cones to start turning?
-
When your rear trailer reaches the first cone at the front of the parking space, stop and GOAL to make sure. Then turn your wheel all the way, back until you see marker on landing gear. Stop. Turn wheel all the way the other direction, back up until trailer is straight, then stop. Now you need middle cone at opposite end of parking space lined up with your trailer. Make corrections if it’s not by pulling forward. Once it is lined up begin straight line back until cone in front of parking space is lined up with your shoulder, then stop. Turn wheel all the way towards parking space, then back to marker on landing gear framework again. Once you see it in your mirror stop. Your trailer is now in the parking spot. Turn wheel all the way away from parking spot, begin back again to put tractor in and then stop when middle cone is a few inches over your hood. Pull parking break, honk, and pass the parking test.

You will have a thousand years to back into some of the toughest spots in trucking once you have that CDL.
We learned parallel parking in school back in Maryland where it's not even required. basically treated the entire tractor as the steer axle of a regular car to the trailer. Once that was understood, the trailer will tell you how it wants in or out.
Ive done some of that in actual trucking, one little town in Mass I took 8 parking spots with it, fed 8 meters, all wheels 3 inches of curb and walked across to breakfast. The reefer was howling in high range through the second floor rowhouse windows.
Police came. Measured everything, checked meters eyeballed me in the plate window watching them (My trucking company hat made the connection...) and ultimately no problem.
When being tested relax. I enjoy giving tacturn silent Mr Clipboard or Miss Hissy hardhat a nice ride in a semi. Isnt this FUN!? Let's go. I don't stress about it.
What I do sometimes is clean forget something now and then I just take the hit in the points. The devil dances in the details as far as my life is concerned.Slim51 Thanks this. -
Awesome. Thanks
