Now do it at the chicago produce market, in the back with all the buyers, about 2 feet of space between trailers, and about 50-60 feet of pull up space...... Oh yes and a 290" W900L.

I am 100% with you on GOAL (nothing like seeing first-hand where things are at) and fender mirrors...I have done some pretty dramatic :biggrin_255: stuff over the years to avoid blindside backing.

Newbies Note: GOAL means Get Out And Look

OMG I had to do one down in Houston, back in 06, can't remember the name of the place but here it goes.. The company was on a part residential part business street. Their yard was no bigger than my back yard at my house we owned at the time.. The dock they wanted me to get to was the last one, right next to their plant. Well it took me 45 minutes to get in. I had three obstacles to avoid. A wall, fire hydrant on that wall, and two sets of stairs one at the front and one next to the dock.. Lucky for me I had my wife with me at the time, and she basically stayed out side of the truck and made sure I did not hit anything.. The had this fence that was already knocked down from other drivers, so I had no worries there..

The biggest problem was starting in the middle of a two lane street, which no one would give you the time to even start your backing.. And on top of that I had to avoid hitting the tree right at the begining of their parking lot and the fence at the entrance. So ya I did it alright, but it was a pain and seemed like it was taking forever..

I was trying to forget about that place!
Didn't do it with a 290" WB. That must be fun.

The new market is nice, but some of those guys want you to go around back to unload, instead of in front where the docks are at :biggrin_25510: Its ok if you get there before 3am, but after its almost impossible as they have to many straight trucks/vans running around cutting you off. Not only that but they park their 4 wheelers straight in front of the ramps by the wall so you really have about 40-50 feet to work with. I had to blind side into Jack Tuchten one time as there was no way i was getting i next to that 53' trailer the right way.

The old market, now that one was just pure fun!!!!

It's funny they have this post because about 2 months ago I stopped at the TA and I seen that lil mirror. After a lil consideration and thinking about a lot of the places I go, where the only way to get in sometimes is to blindside, I decided to buy one. Let me tell you it was well worth the $30 bucks.

It was a good idea with the mirror on the sunvisor. But I still wouldn't do it. had pleanty of room to turn around and do it the safe way, but did make a nice demo.
