blindside backing?

    I went to deliver at a receiver where it's mainly just drop and hook, but they made it seem like we were running late even though I was 4 hours earlier than the time my company gave me. So they had me put it in a door which in my belief could only be done by blindsidibg unless you were a yard dog or day cab driver. So I attempt to sight side, and I just didn't have the room so I said to hell with it, and blindsided ,took my time GOAL every 4 ft . It was going fine until a guy came out and said, no blind side backing here and told me there was enough room to sight side ( my ###). So he said just drop it where it was and yard dog would put it in, but I insisted I was fine it would just take time because I have to get out every little bit I back, so he let me an watched the rear for me and it was fine.     Im a yard dog and at the warehouse I work at we have to blindside like 6 doors. Have to. No way to site side at there is a wall preventing you. You can blindside if you need to. Obviously its a bit more risky and takes longer as you can tell. If you do it best to have somone watching you back end for you.

    Judging by the size of the parking lot in the picture it looks like there's plenty of room To back In without blindsiding.

    Those pictures show nothing on the right side. Therefore I cannot offer a opinion.

    Any time customer says drop it. Trailer is dropped. They can dock it any time.

    Their yard, their rules. Next time let them put it in, the liability is on them at that point.

    Any time a receiver tells me to drop a trailer for the jockey to back in, I get a warm fuzzy feeling.

    I don't think we saw what was to the left of the truck.

    I deliver to one place that has docks all the way to the end of the building and the asphalt stops right at the building end. Don't even get the chance to drive on the grass because a chain link fence runs right along the asphalt edge.

    Dunno about that yard, but there are places where you have no option but to blindside. You did it correctly, stop and look 50 times if your not sure, the exercise in and out of the truck is good for you. I've been to more than a few places that are designed by some gimp, where it's a designed blind side back. You did it right.

    I cannot type loudly enough to tell you how wrong you were. This job is not about EGO. It is about SAFETY. If a yard dog is available to you and offers to put it in the door, let him do his job. He has the right to make a living. Yard dogs are truckers also. Let him support his family just like you do. Every driver on this site will someday have to do a blindside back. At some point all of us will come face to face with a backing situation where we are challenged. We will want help. When help is offered TAKE IT and say THANK YOU.

    There were a lot of places where I dropped loads and was directed to NOT back just drop it. No point making it hard for yourself!
