Why do other drivers blink there lights at me when they merge Infront of me? I assume it's a thank you gesture but usually they lane change 2 feet in front of me which is annoying and dangerous! I go 60 mph you guys going 75 have plenty of time to give more room before getting over yet you still blink your lights like your being polite after your just cut me off? Lol happens at least once a day

You're going so slow they probably think you're slowing down to let them in. Only thing I can think of

Typically around here in Western Canada lately it means "thanks for letting me in because I'm a ####ing idiot that can't drive and almost caused a massive crash due to my own incompetence!"

They've learned that one bit of courtesy, but not the more important bit of leaving more room before the lane change. To be fair, especially if they are from "back east" or big cities if you don't change lanes a half-inch after passing someone 9 cars will "shoot the gap" and pass the passing truck in the right lane.

Sometimes, in light traffic situations on Intra/Interstates, The Truck/Combo I passed would "Flash Lights" therein signaling "Clear To Get Lane", then I would cycle 4 ways for about 4-6 clicks.
Usually wasn't too concerned about impatient vehicles as I often had sufficient room to enter Lane and decelerate if needed.
Heavy Traffic, Night/Day, resulted in different outcomes.

Driving our 4 wheel vehicle, we, sometimes "flash" Trucks and sometimes get Flasher responses as well NO response (more of the latter).

    CHEERS!!

Legend goes during night driving and in the rain when trucks needed to merge the truck would shut down headlights 2-4 times to signal to the merging truck that it’s clear and go ahead.

once the truck merges they would then flash their markers or lights as form of thank you.

Over the years things have gotten complicated and now the standards for trucker etiquette has turned into a “wtf is he trying to say?”

Most new truck drivers now are just bringing their terrible, careless, dangerous car driving habits into a big truck. Several, maybe many, of the largest trucking companies have the majority of their current drivers having less than 90 days experience inside of the truck.

Canadian headlights vs American headlights. The language barrier is confusing.

Used to be a courtesy, before the Sandals took over , I'd actually slow down for a nanny truck on 2 or 4 lane roads to make a pass safely.
On a 2 lane I'd make it happen communicating with the driver the entire pass , sadly missed today.
