Last time I got certified we had to fax our long form to the DPS office in Austin and hope they didn't #### it up. This time I had to take it directly to a local DPS office and file it in person. They also issued me a new license, presumably with my certification on it.

That's why I always go to my own state of residence to do the physical.
You never know what may change next, from minute to minute, with those people.
"They also issued me a new license, presumably with my certification on it."
And did you notice anything on the license to indicate that? Just curious.
It's just strange that a new federal regulation would not have more clear guidelines to be followed by every state.
It should be as simple as black and white - not every shade and color in between. -
A Federally issued CDL would remove the opportunity for individual states to screw things up by putting their own spin on things.
Also wouldn't have the issue of things like Hazmat endorsements not being transferable when moving to another state etc.
One Federal, interstate, nationwide CDL to rule them all. -

INTRAstate license for you then!.

So looking over this thread these are the main things you can do a few days before your DOT exam for B/P?
1. Take magnesium (pills)?
2. Take garlic (pills)?
3. Get lots of rest/sleep
4. Drink lots of water
5. No soda and low salt foods
And maybe two hours before test eat one or two whole lemons!
Any other foods that help and other foods to avoid? -
Don't drink too much water the night before or the day of the physical.
-
May I ask why? You need to drink a little extra so you have enough for urine for the exam.
Can you comment on some of the other things I listed? Like garlic/magnesium pills or good/bad foods? -
If you can't urinate without drinking water right before the test, then by all means do so. Water retention raises blood pressure, so it's best not to drink too much of anything before the test.
Apart from reducing salt and eliminating caffeine, none of the other "remedies" (Garlic, Potassium, Bananas etc) had any effect on my blood pressure. -
Alright, thanks for the input.
On another note, a friend who works at the same company I do went for his DOT Physical last week and said the doctor told him that starting this year, if you are on any prescription medication it is an automatic 1year card. Is that true?
