The only thing stopping me is everyone saying it can't be done. But with many businesses, successful entrepreneurs were told "It can't be done" many times over. I'm just really sick of working for big corporations. I'm sick of the mind games, the psychology, the attitude that you are 100% expendable and replaceable and the attitude that no matter how good you do, it's never good enough, but one mistake and you are satan's spawn itself and must be severely punished. It's like being in school, a very immature school. I'm just sick of the corporate world. I want to be in business for myself. I'm willing to work in the corporate world if I must, to get the experience, but if I can't get my foot in the door with a company where I can actually get some decent experience and stand to work there long enough to pay some minor bills it just seems pointless. I want to work towards something in my life, build something up and watch it grow, not just dread going to work every day knowing it's leading no where and wondering if I'm going to be "gotten onto" for something. And yes, there's no reason I would limit myself to any one region. I've been all over the highways of this country, I'm familiar with the routes and lanes and the products in specific regions. I think I'd be good working with anyone around the country.

The only thing stopping me is hearing "No one will work with you" and I don't want to go out, make the investments, get a business line of credit, get all set up and ready to go then make 2,000 calls in a week without getting a single load booked. I just wonder, if each and every single little mom and pop shipper, big operations, small- each and every O/O and small fleet owner... All of them want to see you have experience? They're all going to check? Can they really see exactly how much experience you have?

I would never want to tell anyone that they cannot succeed at something. I hope I have not given you that impression. I do hope that I have related some of the challenges you can expect as you pursue your dream. I understand your attitude about working for someone else. There will always be those who break the norm and succeed regardless of the odds. What I have suggested is some alternatives you might consider. I know if you call on enough shippers, you will sell some capacity. If I were you and wanted to start a brokerage, I would start developing some contacts before doing anything. You can't do anything until you get broker authority unless you go to work for a broker and use their authority.

If you are persistent and a go getter, you will find a way in which to succeed. One reason so many people fail is that they get in such a big hurry that they forget about the basics. If you really believe in your dream, you should not allow anyone to deter you from pursuing your goal.

Thank you, G/MAN, I appreciate it greatly. And I know you are not trying to crush my dreams, nor are many others. Some might be, but I know most of the people here are just trying to help and I totally appreciate it. I'm just not sure where else to turn at this point. Over The Road, thousands of miles away from home is just not the life for me, not anymore. My health went from gym fitness status to overweight in the time I drove a truck. It ruined my life in many ways. I want to build a future at something, to where I can eventually do things for my family, have a nice home, plenty of money, etc. I just want something that I can work towards, instead of being at something dead end, constantly spinning my wheels and constantly going no where. I guess it's part of what creates all this drive in me.

I'm definitely going to look into what you said, the possibilities of starting a home based dispatch service. It seems that might be a great way to make some contacts and some money for the time being, I'll look into my options for sure.
